when ilya is having a particularly bad time in boston he starts quietly leaving parties and clubs and hookups without saying goodbye just to see how people will react and learns every time that they won't notice in any way that really matters and it just ends with him walking alone and then in ottawa after they're outed and playing for the same team and he's been good for the most part except this week has been hard for no good reason which Galina told him would happen he slips out the back of monks where all the centaurs are celebrating a win just to see if anyone notices and he won't do it too long and he won't get sad when nobody does and he's about to go back inside when the door opens and it's hazy and he's smiling and calls inside, "he's out here!" and then shane's there and bood and troy and the whole fucking team seems to be falling out of this door and going "cap! rozy! ilya! we were wondering were you slipped off to!" and they drag him back inside talking about how they need him to settle a bet or tell so and so about that trick shot and he can't help the huge smile that's spread across his face.
