While threatening IS way too far, I get why people are upset. The station DID straight up LIE. They said they had news on/a request from Clancy, which people have been following for months and have been up and focusing on it for days bc it’s been coming to it’s climax. People in other countries are up in the middle of the night just to hear what’s up and it’s JUST a contest and no actual info on Clancy.

Hosting a contest is technically news for a radio station. A media outlet playing along into what little tidbits of concept album hype that’s out there makes sense from a promotional perspective. It’s not like they were specifically asking for an international viewership, especially since they’re not a national/international station, people tuned in on their own accord. Besides, as cool as it would’ve been for it to be legit... in retrospect, it would seem a little silly for a small Arizona station to have international news on a band from Ohio, no?

But i go back to my main point: exaggerating/playing along to the lore is no excuse to call the hostess by vulgar slurs and report her tweets/try to cancel her show. It was just a red herring, and a cute contest for Arizona fans, let them have that because that’s really easy to move on from.

FIFTEEN?! holy shit, I’m gonna try to find that thread, I had no idea that many people were coming forward, I had only heard about two accounts. especially so early on in a band’s career, it’s hard to coordinate 15 people to have similar experiences about your group. I hope this puts an end to the behaviour within that band too, if what they said in that statement had any weight to them.

I also do keep an eye out if someone does have a specific tagging format and adapt to that, so if you have a format, I’ll go by it. (luckily, it’s not as volatile of a reaction for me as seeing my ch*m content, but considering the dishonesty/fraud that went behind making the comic relevant, it’s a wonder that a show adaption got greenlit.)

And you wanna know what sucks! I say this as a Maroon 5 fan! I know all their damn names unironically! I appreciated that Songs About Jane medley and the glowy orbs during She Will Be Loved. I did my time waiting for It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, that album gap betwee SaJ and that album lasted longer than fob’s hiatus. Fuckin hell; Kiwi, Hands all Over, and Tickets are still bops!

but god. the quality of maroon 5 just. slowly declined when they became a Singles band rather than an Album band. V wasn’t that great of an album (feeEEEELLLIINNNGSSSS) and there’s no way in hell I’m going to download an album called ‘red pill blues.’ i know damn well that maroon 5 was trying to reference the Matrix and doesn’t know the context of red pill in the 2010s, but regardless.

chances are that they only looked at the photos and didn’t get a look at how batshit the captions were. Just keep reporting that account till it’s gone, as I know they want to try and keep it up to get the attention that they want.
