Jan 20th, 2021: Hi everyone! I had a super lesson with Cappy this morning! My body was super relaxed and ready to go, and settling into the surcingle was easier than weeks past. Today was really special because I got to use reins with Cappy for the first time and it was my first time using looped reins! I was completely in sync with him and could follow his movement with my body and hands fluidly. I really felt like a Grand Prix rider, and I have a feeling that pretty soon we’ll be riding circles around everyone! The looped reins were really helpful as I had a secure place to hold and didn’t have to worry about them slipping through my hands. I have another lesson tomorrow and I’m excited to keep working towards my goals! Maybe I’ll be able to practice a test with Cappy soon 😊. Yesterday Shane I Were working on FEI Grade 1 Novice Test A again because I want to try to refilm it for virtual judging sometime In April or May. After my lesson I spent a great deal of time looking at this picture in particular and scrutinizing the way I looked in the saddle. I should have sat forward a tiny bit more and bent my elbows so that my arms would be in a more comfortable place and I could ride better and get Shane more forward etc . I was upset with myself because I was not focused enough on what my body was doing because I was paying attention to the test. But the quote above and a really nice person reminded me that we can’t have it all perfect, especially when there is so much to focus on. So instead, I will say that I am so proud of both of us for getting the figures in the test more correct even with obstacles in the way. I’m proud that we both tried our best. I can always place more focus on my seat and position next time. . I will never stop giving 110% every day, because that is more important than being perfect. I will never stop loving and praising the horses I work with even if we could have done better. I will never stop believing in myself and going down this path even though it is difficult. I want to have a positive influence on this sport and the people in it, because it means so much to me, and I have faith that I will go far. I know that those of you out there who are doubting yourself are meant for great things. Dec 5th 2020: Hi guys! I wanted to introduce you to Cappy! He is the horse I am taking lessons on at Emerald M therapeutic riding center! He is teaching me how to build a stable seat and acquire seperation of aids so that I can communicate with him more effectively. He tripped twice today and I stayed stable with the exception of some minor shifting. I feel more confident and secure each time I ride him which is huge! I haven’t been working with Cappy that long but he has such s fun loving and goofy personality that is easy to love! He is also a great teacher and really gets moving when you are doing the eight thing so you instantly know if you are making progress. I’m really excited to keep getting stronger with his help!
