Traditionally, Valentine’s Day is celebrated with candy, flowers, maybe a night out for dinner or what have you. Recently, however, there’s been a larger movement for couples to express their love for one another every day, not just Valentine’s Day. I like to think I’ve followed suit (at least, I hope so, sorry babe), but I would like to instead take today as a day of reflection on one of the biggest, and best changes to ever happen in my life: meeting Olivia. Almost 4 years ago I met this stunning girl in a bowling alley. Even though I tried turning up the charm to 12, I didn’t think it was enough to win over a girl who I thought (and still think) is an easy 20 (on a 10-point scale, of course). Through some miracle though, we wound up going on our first date only a week after meeting; I remember being so nervous for the date that I didn’t have much of an appetite the whole week until that point, losing almost 7 lbs. But we went, and sparks flew (not in the movie we watched, the movie was atrocious). But since that day I don’t think either of us have ever looked back. Our meeting, our connection, everything was just all so natural that we were both so comfortable with one another right from the start. More than comfort, we were so supportive of one another, supportive of what we did and what we wanted to do down the road. Today I would like to reflect on that part a little more because I think the both of us are hitting the busiest and most stressful part of our lives (to date), and I can’t imagine how I would be going through everything without her. And despite our busyness, we still make time for each other: still constantly texting, the occasional late-night calls, or even the (rare) Skype call where we get to see each other. We’re busy, but never to busy for each other, and I hope she knows that this will always be the case for me. I love you Olivia. I’m excited to celebrate our 4-year anniversary, but I can wait because being with you has gotten me to think that everyday is its own celebration. @boodeliadumaurier <3
