"Just one round, please!" The youngest pulls on the older man's arm incessantly. Unfazed, he refuses to cave.
"Taehyung, I told you, I have to do the accounts, and you should be practicing"
The third in the group gives the oldest his best puppy-dog eyes. "Yoongi, just one?" he says softly.
Yoongi sighs and picks up the cue from the table. Their faces light up until he places it in Hoseok's hand.
"Have fun." With that, he leaves into the back room. The two watch Yoongi disappear from view.
"He never plays anymore," Taehyung says in a pout.
"Whatever, we can just play together," Hoseok consoles. He busies himself with finding the billiard balls, not registering the ring from the bell above the bar's entrance, but Taehyung hears it loud and clear. "Get the rack," Hoseok says.
When there's no response, he stops and looks at his friend. "Taehyung?"
Taehyung stands frozen, mouth slightly open, staring at the front of the bar. Hoseok turns in the same direction.
"Woah," he whispers.
~•~
"Jimin, I thought you said no more."
"Don't worry, we'll be fine, Jungkook." He hands him the motorcycle helmet. The biker puts it inside the seat next to his own. They stand in front of the bar for the moment, the purple neon signs shining bright against the faded stars.
"You're sure about this?" There's always risk involved with these things, but due to recent events, Jungkook is more nervous than usual.
Jimin turns to him and winks. They head inside. There are not many people; the night is still young. Still, within a few seconds of entering, Jungkook hears Jimin gasp softly. He looks over to see his friend stare at his new catch.
"See," Jimin breathes. "Easy."
He leads the way towards the pool table with two leather-clad men stunned by Jimin, as they should be. The one with blond hair, matching his, stands wide-eyed while the other black-haired one slowly arranges the pool table. Soon, they get close enough for Jimin to run his finger along the edge of the table.
"Now don't tell me you didn't wait for us," Jimin says sweetly. Jungkook can barely stop himself from rolling his eyes.
The blond clears his throat before looking away to answer. "Haven't seen you here before." A blush creeps up his neck.
Jimin bends over to place his elbows on the table, his shirt falling slightly open. "We're not here for long, just passing through." He doesn't fight the smirk that comes when the man's eyes flicker down to his chest.
His partner, raven-haired and cautious, moves closer to them, holding out a cue. "Up for a few rounds?"
Jimin straightens and begins to walk towards him. Jungkook catches his shoulder before he gets too close.
"Hey, not them," he says not-too-quietly. The words are scripted, but he still means them.
"We'll be fine, Jungkook," Jimin responds over his shoulder loud enough for the others to hear. The look he gives Jungkook reveals confidence between the lines.
"Problem?" the other player asks.
Jungkook rubs the back of his neck. "He's not the best player..."
Jimin places a hand on his chest. "That hurts," he says jokingly. He takes the cue from the player's hand.
"He's been on a losing streak for a month," Jungkook warns.
"That's alright," the blond player says. "We'll go easy. I'm Taehyung."
"Jimin. All or nothing?"
Taehyung's mouth flicks up in a smirk. "All or nothing."
Jungkook waits for the introduction that never comes. He turns to the other player setting up the rack. "I'm Jungkook."
"Hoseok." They give each other a knowing look. It doesn’t really matter what their names are. Tonight clearly isn't about them.
Jimin misses the first few shots by inches each time. Jungkook makes sure to get a few, but not too many. They let Taehyung and Hoseok get accustomed to their skills before taking it up a notch. They're half an hour in when Jimin gets three in a row.
"Looks like you're his lucky charm," Jungkook says looking at Taehyung.
Taehyung hasn't taken his eyes off Jimin the entire time. Hoseok is starting to look suspicious, but it's too late to stop now. Jungkook pockets two at once and resists the urge to wink at Hoseok. There's always a thrill with their "line of work", as if they're dancing on the edge of a knife.
"Hey, what is this?" Hoseok says when they start losing more points than expected.
"What?" Jimin says innocently. He walks up to Taehyung and places a delicate hand on his chest. "There isn't a problem, is there?"
Taehyung visibly swallows. "No problem at all."
"Perfect." After a wink, Jimin walks back to Jungkook for the cue.
After making two in at once, he straightens and tightens his grip on his cue. He stares directly at Taehyung as he walks around the table to his end. He squeezes himself between the player and the table, purposely not asking him to move. He doesn’t anyways. Facing the leather beauty, Jimin sits himself up on the edge of the table, his knees straddling the other's thighs. He's close enough to smell the vanilla cologne on his neck.
"Sweet," Jimin whispers. Taehyung's heart skips a beat as he studies his face, inches from his own.
Jimin glances back to line up his shot then leans back slightly, piercing his gaze into the other. It isn’t clear whether the thumps that come next are from the billiard balls or their hearts. Could be either, really.
“For you,” Jimin places the cue in Taehyung’s hand, eyes flickering down to his lips for a split second. He walks away from the stunned man, Jungkook's scoff falling on deaf ears. Both Taehyung and Hoseok look close to jumping Jimin at this point but for different reasons. The latter's scowl scares Jungkook. They only narrowly escaped the last one with Jimin still suffering a cut to his stomach.
It takes strawberry-red Taehyung a moment before he refocuses on the game. By the time he realizes they've lost, he sees Hoseok grabbing Jungkook by the collar, yelling right into his face. Suddenly, he feels a hand slide down his ass. Taehyung reaches back to grab the hand, but then there's a kiss on his neck. His breath shallows. He doesn't need to turn to know who it is. The heat burning from his neck makes him lose his grip on the other's wrist. He doesn't notice the hand slip out of his pocket; he's too focused on the soft, angelic voice in his ear thanking him for a good game. A chill runs down his spine when Jimin tugs on his collar before walking away.
"I don't know what the hell you're talking about!" Jungkook yells before pushing Hoseok away from him.
"Is there a problem here?" A man approaches them from the back of the bar. Not waiting to find out who he is, the two make a run for it, dashing between the growing crowd in the bar.
"Hey!" Taehyung yells. Hoseok runs behind them out of the bar, but by the time he gets to the sidewalk he hears a loud laugh accompanied by the rumble of a motorcycle down the street.
Utterly pissed off, he comes back inside to see Taehyung explaining to Yoongi.
"But they didn't take anything, right?" Yoongi asks.
Taehyung reaches back into his pocket. "No, I don't think–" He freezes. He hurriedly pats down all of his pockets.
Hoseok walks back to their table. "I saw the plate. They didn't take anything, right?"
Taehyung stares at him silently, not wanting to say that they cleared him after he got distracted by the pretty face. In his defense, his heart stopped when he first saw Jimin. Hoseok realizes the answer and kicks the leg of the table.
"Shit! They can't be far right?" he asks Yoongi.
Yoongi holds up a hand, gesturing for him to wait. "It sounds like they've done this a lot. You shouldn't go after them alone," he warns.
"We can just look at nearby hotels or something," says Taehyung.
"No," Yoongi says firmly. "Professional hustlers have a lot of people after them. They stay armed and move around a lot." He brings the other two closer around the pool table.
"I know some guys that could help," Yoongi says quietly. Hoseok raises an eyebrow. "Unless you would rather let them go?"
"No," says Taehyung. He stares at the green of the table. "We'll find them. Even if we don't get anything back, I can at least beat the shit out of them."
"You just want to fuck that guy." Hoseok accuses.
"Hey!" Taehyung rushes closer to the elder, poking at his chest. "It was my money that they took, not yours." The two stare each other down.
"Okay, hey." Yoongi pulls Taehyung off Hoseok. "I'll call them. Don't beat each other up."
Hoseok adjusts his jacket while Taehyung walks away to a nearby table. "How much?" Hoseok calls.
"Buy me a goddamn beer," he responds without looking back. The other chuckles and heads to the bar in the other direction.
Yoongi, still at the table between them, sighs and pulls out his phone. He still hasn't finished doing the accounts.
~•~
Jimin tightens his grip around Jungkook's waist. His shirt catches in the wind as they look for a motel. "Thank you," he says into Jungkook's ear.
Jungkook turns his head slightly. "You had fun?" he yells over the noise. Jimin places a kiss on his neck in affirmation. He doesn't see Jungkook smile contently. As the sun sets, they park in the half-empty lot of a motel. Jimin dozed off slightly on the way, so he's a bit slow getting off the bike. When he does, Jungkook places his hands on his cheeks. Jimin looks up at him in a cute pout.
"What are you doing," he mumbles.
"Waking you up. You have to charm the front desk," Jungkook responds.
Jimin pulls his lover's hands from his face. "You only care about my looks."
Jungkook nods and places a kiss on his nose. They giggle together for a moment, Jimin playfully hitting Jungkook's stomach for the comment. Inside, Jimin does charm the front desk into a discount. They're all too focused on Jimin to notice the dark figure hanging around their motorcycle on the security camera screen. Once in their room, Jungkook puts their bag on a chair while Jimin collapses on the bed, exhausted from the day. The younger starts changing into more comfortable clothes.
"Do we need to get gas?" Jimin asks.
"Yes, definitely." Jungkook pulls a hoodie over his head. “We barely made it here.”
Jimin pulls out the money from today as Jungkook joins him on the bed. “How much?”
Jimin smooths out the crumpled bills and lets out a breath when he sees the amount. He looks at Jungkook who stares at the money with wide eyes.
“We are so dead,” Jungkook says.
Jimin laughs. “No, we’ll be fine.” But even he can’t help the nervous gulp that comes after.
“Jimin...” Jungkook says. He gives a warning look to his partner in crime. The latter hurriedly gathers the money and stuffs it into his shoe next to the bed.
He pulls Jungkook down into the bed and says, “Just sleep. If they come, we’ll just leave again.”
Jungkook sighs and looks around the room.
“Oh, come on,” Jimin whines. “You can’t say this isn’t fun.”
Jungkook sits up suddenly. “Fun?” he says loudly. “You call running from bounty hunters fun?”
“Well, not that part...”
“Then what?” By this point, Jungkook is yelling. “Stealing money for food? How about fighting people you hustle and getting hurt?”
“Jungkook...”
“Or how about driving 6 hours a day and being worried those hunters are around every corner?”
“OK!” Jimin sits up. “I’m sorry. I get it.” He takes Jungkook’s hand in his.
“Look they won’t chase us forever,” he says.
“You said that two years ago,” the younger says softly.
"It's still true. At some point we aren't worth it anymore," Jimin says.
"You're right." Jungkook squeezes Jimin's hand. "At some point, we aren't worth it anymore." They left everything years ago, and they've been running on adrenaline for too long.
"Jungkook..." Jimin knows that it was never meant to last this long. Maybe he's gotten used to not thinking about his future or his past, about their future or their past.
It tugs on his heartstrings, knowing they're strained. It's been a long time coming, but it doesn't hurt any less. He watches Jungkook moves pillows and blankets around and wonders how much longer they have before it all falls apart.
Jimin takes a look around at where they are. "How long to the coast?" he asks. He wonders when their ties loosened.
"At our speed? A week." Jungkook gets up to grab Jimin's jacket from their bag.
"And if we don't make any stops?" He wonders who will be the first to break away.
Jungkook sighs and wraps his lover in the jacket. He lays back down on the bed. "A few days."
Jimin curls into Jungkook's side, hugging him tightly. "Let's take a few hours first?"
Jungkook pulls him closer. "A few hours," he responds, letting his heartbeat lull them both to sleep, while Jimin wonders in his dreams.

The elevator chimes as the doors slide open. Taehyung steps out, pulling the mask over his face. The fine dust count has been high recently.
"Taehyung! Hey," a voice calls from his side. Taehyung clasps hands with his old friend.
"Namjoon, morning. Were you waiting here?"
Namjoon pushes off from the wall beside the elevator. "Not long," he shrugs. "Should we go?"
"Sure, lead the way," Taehyung says. He pushes his glasses up and shoves his hands in his khakis. He might have left Paris, but his style was forever changed. Today he felt artsy, with a beige beret, a light cardigan, khakis, and his favorite paint palette pin.
"The cafe isn't too far from here, and it's perfect for brunch," Namjoon explains. His style was much more simple but fit him just as well. The blue Levi's on a white tee matched his blue baseball cap as much as the spring sky. His light brown jacket highlighted his timberlands. He was covered in Earth tones, reflecting it in his own nature.
The two step out of the hotel onto the busy Seoul streets. Taehyung only landed yesterday, but he needed to find an apartment quickly. And a job. Maybe not in that order.
"How's the jet lag?" Namjoon asks as they walk in between the early workers rushing to work.
"Alright. I took some melatonin last night, so it was fine." Taehyung flicks his hair out of his eyes. A haircut was needed soon too. "It'll probably hit in the afternoon or evening."
Namjoon chuckles at the thought. "Yeah, it's rough," he agrees. They stroll among the high risers, enjoying the spring weather. This is why he came back, Taehyung thinks. Paris has its own charm, but nothing beats the streets he wandered after school, splitting costs with his friends for snacks and comic books. He smiles as he remembers the time a stray dog caught onto his pant leg, and he and his friend had to sprint five blocks before they lost it.
The buildings get taller and the streets get busier as Taehyung starts up another conversation. "Hey, are you still in touch with anyone else?"
"A few of them," Namjoon says. The cafe shouldn't be too far now. "You were close with Jimin, right?"
Taehyung lets out a breath as the memories come flooding back: late-night gaming sessions and comic book cafes, sitting under the stars in a park hoping their parents wouldn't check their beds, lost glances, touches, laughs... "Yeah, but we lost touch after I moved and he got busy."
Namjoon nods solemnly. "Actually, we're pretty close now, Jimin and I," he says hesitantly.
"Oh really?" Taehyung says quietly. "Does he still model at that company? I only went there a few times before I left."
Namjoon brings his hand up to rub the back of his neck, glancing at Taehyung. "Yeah, he does. But they moved locations from that old place-" A rumbling sound from down the street cuts him off.
"Speak of the devil..." says Namjoon. The two slow to a stop as a jet black Porsche Carrera quickly slides into the shoulder in front of them. The glossy shine under the morning sun gives the car a sparkling finish. The passenger side opens and a man steps out, leather bag and jacket in tow. It isn't the clean pressed pants, shiny Chelseas, or even the two undone buttons on his dress shirt that makes Taehyung lose his breath. It isn't even the small wave he gives the driver before they speed off or that same hand running through his gorgeously bleached hair that makes Taehyung forget where he is. No, it's the small giggle he hears when the man steps out, remnants of a joke long gone, that transports him to those inside jokes told during classes, pranks played during trips to their hometowns, whispers shared under the stars on nights never forgotten. He would know that laugh anywhere.
The man rushes across their path to the building beside them, barely slowing down to give a half-bow, sunglasses hiding his eyes, not even stopping for a glance. Passerby's maneuver around them as Taehyung stands stunned, his mind putting together the pieces.
"Um, should we-" Namjoon starts. He gets cut off once again with a loud whoosh from a billboard across the street. Taehyung's jaw drops as the camera zooms out on the perfectly styled blond, the model's elegant eyes staring into the camera, into his soul it seems. The model brings a hand to his lips, posing and showing off his look.
But Taehyung couldn't care less about what he's wearing or doing or who's around him because- "Oh my god, Jimin," he says.
"Fashion changes," Jimin quotes in the advertisement. "But style endures." His voice sounds deeper than Taehyung remembers, but that might also be due to his heart pounding out of his chest. With a smirk from the beauty, the scene goes black to say CHANEL in large letters, leaving Taehyung breathless, stunned, and utterly confused. He turns to Namjoon, mouth still open, waiting for something, anything.
Namjoon clears his throat before answering, "oh, I'm his manager too." Taehyung gives him a puzzled look. "Thought you should know," he finishes softly. Before Taehyung can barrage him with questions, Namjoon walks ahead towards the cafe. He'll need the calories to deal with this storm.
"Wait, hold on!" Taehyung runs after him. He knew he would miss a lot in the five years he was gone, but his best friend turning into a super hot model for luxury brands, a national celebrity gaging by the number of people that stopped to watch his ad, essentially a million times more successful than him? He would make Namjoon his hostage until every one of his questions was answered, starting with is that what he looks like now?
