I got a supernatural question for you, cause I figure you probably know. So I totally didn't notice that Sam and Dean's anti possession tattoos are different till recently, Dean's is inverted and Sam's is facing up. Is there any significance to this? Like is it just a makeup technical thing or is there any lore significance to the symbol being inverted or not?
Both tattoos are inverted the majority of the time but there’s been a few instances where they weren’t, this probably has no significance. When they’re not inverted they’re not perfectly upright either, they’re kind of tilted which suggests the temporary tattoo moved while it was being applied. Fixing it would require vigorously scrubbing the actor’s skin with rubbing alcohol to get the temp tattoo off, which will irritate the skin, and then using another temp tattoo. If a scene calls for an actor to show their tattoo you don’t want the skin to be irritated, it looks bad, so it’s better to just leave the tilted tattoo. The chest is a difficult region to apply temp tattoos because it moves anytime the actor moves. Even just scrolling through your phone can cause your chest to move a bit which can make a temp tattoo slip while it’s still wet.
