A few days had passed since that faithful day, the faithful day when Cassius ran into the fire and never walked out, and Makani still found himself absolutely stricken with grief. If only he had acted quicker, if only he had charged after him instead of calling his name... If only he had opted to go into the blaze himself... So many "what-ifs" ran through his mind, so many plaguing him, and to top it all off, he knew that people were now looking at him with incredulous looks, wondering if he was the one that had set the buildings ablaze as a way to quash away the rumors that the packs should merge.
He hoped that his pack members, and his lieutenants, knew better, though.
One person he knew he would need to talk to was Ademaro. While he was sure that the Sabre packmaster didn't blame him for any of it, he still wanted to see how he was doing - because after all, just as Makani was friends with Cassius, so was the Sabre wolf, and he began to make his way towards the other after most wolves began to leave the dining hall. "Maro," Makani started as he approached, placing a hand upon the other's shoulder. "How are you holding up?"
