Thank you to @zishanali for this fabulous pic! I recently started being more active as a self-care practice. I have always been very strong. I have an incredible body that I have abused and taken for granted. My body continues inspite of my illness which I think is incredible. After my Graves diagnosis I have felt weak, shakey, tired, and very protective of my body. I wanted to change the relationship I had with my body and exercise. What I was taught as a very young child that exercise is a form of penance for my body not conforming. I had to lose weight, to look a certain way and not simply as a way to experience joy. I was taught to exercise because I needed to change my body. I am fat and fat is bad. I was taught constantly lthat fat people are lazy, stupid, undesirable, and unhealthy. I was told by my father he never wanted a fat daughter; he was ashamed of me. It is taken me 30+ years to make peace with me. It has been a difficult journey. I now exercise because it feels amazing in my body. I’ve been on a long journey these past two years. My body has changed so much do to illness. I am finally in a place where I am good. I understand my body needs my support and I’m here to support her. #mymantrastyle #yogaforall #makingpeacewithmybody #lovewins @mymantrastyle @fabletics @ybicoalition https://www.instagram.com/p/BqR6F63DMd4/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=vjmlx9er1ldt
