Tbh, it’s not easy for me to deal with the topic but so many people see nothing wrong with the relationship and that boggles my mind. And more than half the time I am pissed because you ask them why and they just say because it is so. Yes, I do realize it is so, but is TV still just an idiot box? Can’t it arm people with the strength to analyze - especially when it’s a show about two strong independent women fighting to hold their own in a male-dominated world? An issue that is real, widespread and in dire need of attention. It’s supposed to make people think - which is why laughing at the cost of Maura pisses me off so much. It just makes it look like a cheap comedy series with no weight. That’s not what it had promised to be!
Oh dear, before this becomes another long rant, yes I kind of tried to turn off the emotion and turn on my science side - and since the other party was equally willing and respectful, it was easy to fall into a civil conversation. I know that I stand by what I believe in and if I can make people read it and respond to it without reacting to it, maybe I’ll be able to make them see, analyze and understand my pov too.
