So, this is the post I will be talking a little about my first self-insert ever and it is time to let you all know to which fandom it belongs and I bet it is not the fandom you people are probably thinking about. hehe
And the fandom is...My Hero Academia!
I confess I am feeling a bit nervous, this is not only the first time I'm engaging with this fandom but also creating a fan character.
I basically fell in love with Aizawa and I thought he would be the perfect anime character for a self-insert of mine to fall in love with. Very compatible, I'd say.
Here are the ideas I've come up with for her so far:
Name: Shiori (Meaning: Bookmark/Poem)
Other names: The Book Worm; Daydreamer (Hero name)
Gender: Female
Age: 36 (When Aizawa is 39)
Appearance: Overweight (1,70m/5'7" and 95kg/209lb), black medium hair, light grey eyes.
Quirk: Make Believe World (Quirk related to literature and fiction)
Concept of her quirk (what I have so far):
Her quirk lies on her ability to create illusions through the scenarios and stories she writes. Thus the name "Make Believe World", as they are nothing more than hallucinations.
Cons of her quirk:
Her ability depends on writting, which means that she can't simply manifest these illusions: She needs to write them somewhere; and that takes time.
As such, she usually only works in groups, as she needs the protection from her colleagues and someone has to distract the enemy; it is a vulnerable moment for her.
In order to prevent such vulnerability, she usually carries a small notebook with the most random worlds and scenarios you can imagine. This helps her having things ready when taken by surprise by villains, but she is able to improvise during battles if she has enough help.
In the most advanced mode of her quirk, she is able to manifest her illusions at a much larger radius than initially. Furthermore, she is also able to give life to mystical beings, fantasy creatures and the like; they become physical creatures, although they have a maximum duration. Unfortunately for her, this is not very helpful either, as she needs lots of energy and concentration to keep these creatures "alive", even for such a limited amount of time. She usually lacks that kind of energy; Expect for very rare occasions when she is going through moments of euphoria.
All of this makes her a long-range superhero, not recommended for close-range combat. In fact, not recommended for fieldwork at all. Her ability is seen as one of the most useless quirks that has ever existed, since the illusions themselves are incapable of causing damage to the villain. Although damage can occur in its most advanced state, its window of action is quite short; precision would be necessary for considerable damage. Adding to her lack of energy, there is not much that can be done.
Headcanons and facts (so far):
Eri loves asking her to use her (initial) quirk. Shiori wrote several fantasy worlds just for her; one day, some time after the final arc, Eri asked if Shiori could create a world where she lived together with her and Azaiwa, like a family. Shiori refused, blushing like a tomato.
She is usually seen wearing headphones, be it headphones or earphones. Music inspires her to create her works and she loves to daydream listening to her favorite artists.
Since her quirk depends on writing, she was believed to be quirkless during her first years of life; her mother found out about her quirk after she learned how to write.
She once sacrificed herself, using her own blood to write on the asphalt.
She shares Aizawa's love for cats but she always says she loves them more. Shiori has two cats and one of them is a very sassy motherfucker.
And that's all I have for now, quite basic, I know, but I can't deny I am having fun, never imagined that having a self-insert would feel this good. hehe
