The Three Heads of Daenerys' Dragons

Fans have long speculated that the "heads of the dragon" in Targaryen symbolism isn't the three Conquerors as Jorah tells Dany, but rather the the human, the dragon and the sacrifice needed to create the dragon.

House of the Dragon had Daemon sing a son to Vermithor that all but confirmed this, if we assume HotD is canon, and Martin was still working--at least a little bit--with Condal during Season 2.

This has lead a lot of people to go back and speculate about the sacrifices Daenerys used to birth her dragons. The first was Drogo, who is clearly Drogon's "soul" or "essence" or whatever you want to call it. This makes sense as to why he is the one most connected to Dany, why he is the one she wants to "ride" (Dany/Drogo shippers, where you at?).

Some say the horse is the sacrifice for Rhaegal. I think that is silly. Mirri Maz Duur straight up says that's a lie. It must be the unborn baby, Rhaego, imo. So Rhaegal might really see Dany as his mother on some level.

The most contentious is Viserion. The final sacrifice was Mirri Maz Duur herself, and she kinda wasn't Dany's biggest fan. (I was hoping somehow Viserys might have counted as a sacrifice because then the names would all line up perfectly. But the vision Dany has in the House of the Undying of a dragon bursting from Mirri's head pretty much confirms it was her.)

Many people think Mirri Maz Duur being the "soul" or "essence" or lifeforce inside Viserion means he will betray Dany as Mirri did.

... I don't know how I feel about this, in truth. I don't think the dragons actually have the memories of the humans sacrificed to give them life. I think it's a bit more complicated. I also wonder if Mirri Maz Duur did not see her temple burned and get raped a whole bunch, if she would be as vindictive towards Dany as she was in life? Certainly she wanted to protect her people from the Stallion Who Mounts the World, and if now she has the power of great descruction... would she want to use it? Was Mirri Maz Duur's soul bad or did she just do bad things at the end?

(Mostly I want women to be friends.)

It's also interesting the Viserion is considered the "good-natured" dragon, since he is friendly with Ben Plumm and also seems interested in Pretty Meris.

In any case, people speculate Viserion will be the one taken over by Euron (as he was turned by the Night King in the show), so it might be be up to whatever is left of Mirri Maz Duur. ... but I wouldn't think she would be into whatever he is up to. I mean, if she's against the Stallion That Mounts the World, how would she feel about blood sacrifice to bring on the apocalypse?

I'm curious to see.
