Ain't no rest for the wicked....
She'd always been a creature of the night. Even as a child, Rebecca felt drawn to the world after the sun had set. The stars seemed to call to her like the flames did for moths. The first month of living alone in New York City, Rebecca found herself in several sticky situations. Nothing she couldn't handle, she told herself. It was natural that being a drug dealer and bartender by trade would lead to some dangerous scenarios, but she'd be dammed if she couldn't dig herself out.
Tonight was one of those nights, hands shoved deep into her leather pockets, the hairs on the back of her neck seemed to be pricked a little more on edge than usual. It was a bad part of town, she knew that, but she'd been to an apartment complex just a few streets over weeks prior. Her fingers shimmied in the sleek fabric of her jacket, attempting to take hold of the switchblade she kept on her. Not quick enough, Rebecca felt something jammed into her back. She hadn't even heard the steps, the inhales, anything to indicate an attacker. But now, she was alone in an alley, gun pressed to her back.
"One move and I'll shoot," came the voice, icy cold.
