“Well I don’t have much practice in askin’ for it, so I suppose that makes two of us.,” Ari admitted, for once being completely sincere instead of trying to pass the whole thing off as a joke or misunderstanding.

“It’s not exactly somethin’ that comes naturally to me. Especially not in my line of work.”

“Guess that makes us one hell of a pair,” she sighed as she dropped down beside him and leaned her head against his shoulder. 

“Dante thinks I should forgive our mom for all the shit she put us through but I don’t think I can. Dante almost died because of her shitty choices. But he doesn’t see it like that. Figure you’re the least likely to give me some bullshit like of she’s still your mom or what the fuck ever.”

It wasn't the first time either of them had shared a bed with the other after creeping into their room in the middle of the night. Hell, it happened frequently enough that Ari knew the moment his door opened who it was and he didn't even have to speak or ask why Myra was there.

Instead, he simply shuffled a little in the bed to make room for her and hold the covers back in invitation to come snuggle.

Myra didn't hesitate to slip under the blankets with him, immediately curling against the warmth of his body. Her and Dante had gotten into it yet again and she just wanted to feel safe. It was one of the reasons she always went to Ari instead of anyone else there.

"Sorry if I woke you up," she whispered, not wanting to cause him to lose sleep if he had been out already.
