I don't think those Ysalamiri are convenient to be bond with an owner, Loony. Yeah, I know, LothCats are usually not too. But it's still you free decision to stay aside of me my little friend. This Ysalamir on the other side seems to me to have a better life in its usual, natural environment. So let's walk on.

The french editions of “Star Wars: Heir to the Empire” by Dark Horse Comics were collected in three oversized hardcover volumes, as typical for Franco-Belgian bande dessinées. Volume #3 (collecting original format issues #5 and #6) featured an illustration of Mara Jade on Myrkr, as illustrated by Olivier Vatine and Mathieu Lauffray.

A quick look around. Another one. Everything was so beautiful it looked unreal, ripped out from some fairy-tale princess' dream or something.

Raven himself felt as fakely perfect as he had never been before. Gentle but defined eye make up, silky clothes, brushed soft hair.

He didn't like the scents that had been rubbed on his skin, nor the green he had been dressed with - but the Royalty he was meant for did, and Raven was not entitled to have a choice. Actually, he had a crazy, senseless itch to mess up his hair. Just to add a flaw, any flaw. He didn't feel like himself anymore.

He stepped forward as ordered.

Much better than expected. He thought, looking at the Royal. Definitely not the right way to start.

"Raven." he replied. "My Lord."

Formalities, tone, titles, speak only when spoken too.

All good. Except for one detail: he had stared at the Prince way too long.

Fara (to travel) - Anja's first raven. He is an adventurer and was often gone for days or weeks travelling from the Wildwoods and reporting back about his findings. However, one day he barely made it back alive, he had been struck from the skies by an arrow and Eldvarg carried him back home. Though he was nursed back to health, his spirit had seen the light and the world beyond. He asked for Anja to let him travel to it and she did on the condition that he promised to come back to her one day, and she still hopes for his return. His body remains in stasis — unchanging, without a soul, as if he sleeps. His soul serves as a spirit guide for lost souls beyond the veil, guiding them back onto their path.

Vinr (friend) - As the name suggests, this raven is considered a friend of Anja, but more importantly they are a friend to Skuld. This standing has blessed (or cursed) him to hold such an important role. All of the others report directly to him and he prepares a more condensed report of the facts for Anja. He can often be found cuddled up to Skuld or grooming her, most times he is outside keeping watch over Anja's home and waiting for the others to return.

Aska (ashes) - Her feathers are some shades lighter than the other ravens making her much more distinctive. She is the newest member of 'eyes' and sometimes gets a little sidetracked. Her childish nature and little games amuse Anja.

Myrkr (murky) - The stories he tells can be quite exaggerated, which makes the facts "murky". He seems to be naturally attracted to taverns and perhaps observes the wandering minstrels and bards too often given his flair for storytelling.

Rakki (dog) - Ever seen a bird harassing a dog? How about a raven who gets its kicks from taunting hunting hounds? Rakki is a playful raven, and he often imitates a dog barking. He used to live on the fringes of the forest and struggled to keep his territory, not for competition from his own kind but the hunters and their hunting dogs constantly disturbing his land and driving away smaller prey for foraging.

Reykr (smoke) - Now you see her now you don't. Reykr may not be the most sneaky, but she is very talented at blending in naturally like one of the common ravens. Once spotted she can disappear like smoke.

Skírr (bright) - A very, VERY clever raven. Not only can she observe most humans undetected, but she can manage to get inside a persons home to look through their belongings. Anja trusts her with her most sensitive tasks including sneaking in objects to a persons home to inflict a spell upon them.

Skuggi (shadow) - Ever felt watched, but when you turned around nothing was there? Skuggi was probably following you and he hasn't given up the trail. He loves nothing more than to catch others unaware, even his own kind. Sometimes even Anja herself.

Whumpcember 2022 Day. 15 “YOU’RE A MONSTER”

Featuring: Leia, Luke, and Vader being stuck on the same force-forsaken planet. and then being attacked by animals. what a great day!

Scrambling over the cascade of roots and vines, Leia casted a look over her shoulder, breathing heavily as she saw the slashing red of Vader’s lightsaber.

At her side was Luke, and he was struggling to navigate the strange forest as much as she was.

He would’ve used his own lightsaber to cut their way through, but that would alert Vader to where they were.

And for once, fate seemed to be favoring them, for Vader couldn’t access the Force on this planet.

Then again, neither could Luke.

Pros and cons. Pros and cons.

A crash alerted them to Vader’s fast-paced movements, and Leia felt her heart leap into her throat as Vader’s mask swung over to them.

The chase was back on then.

Damn.

Luke fumbled as he frantically pulled his lightsaber out. Now that Vader had found them, might as well make their path easier. Luke lit his saber, casting the dark forest around them in an ethereal blue glow.

Now, time for them to run!

“Skywalker, Organa,” Vader’s voice echoed through the forest as Luke sliced their way to (hopefully) freedom. “Surrender yourselves. This chase is becoming tiresome, no matter how admirable your… persistence is.”

Leia shot a scowl over her shoulder, reaching for her belt, but clenched her hand into a fist as she recalled Vader had ripped her blaster out of her hand when they had initially landed on this planet and then chased them into this literal Force-forsaken forest.

“That only makes me want to keep it going!” Leia declared with a glare. Luke turned to face Vader as the behemoth of a man slowly approached, taking his sweet time. Leia glanced behind them, and held her stomach drop as a tangle of tree branches and vines trapped them from behind, with Vader at their front.

She would say “Force help them”, but unfortunately, it looked like the Force had no control here thanks to whatever blocked it.

“It is useless to resist,” Vader declared, raising his saber and alighting both young adults with its baleful red light. “Hand over your lightsaber, Luke.” Beside, the blonde man stiffened, tightly clutching his father’s lightsaber, and Leia jumped in front of him.

She was not going to allow this monster - this murderer - to take the only relic left of Anakin Skywalker (of the man he killed ) from her friend!

“I think not!” she protested hotly. “How about you hand yours over instead?”

Vader seemed to stare coldly at her before raising his hand and made an aborted movement, a frustrated growl leaving his throat.

Leia smirked.

Oh, it was funny seeing Vader’s anger not being able to be unleashed onto another.

Luke then stepped around her, holding his saber out before him. Vader’s mask turned to him, and he took a step forward. Leia saw Luke stiffen, tightly holding his saber like he was expecting Vader to suddenly be able to tear it out of his hand with a flick of a finger.

“Surrender yourself now, Luke,” Vader’s voice sounded curiously soft as he spoke to her friend. Luke set his jaw and glared, hurriedly raising his saber higher as Vader got closer. “I will spare Organa if you do.”

That made Luke freeze, and Leia felt her heart begin to bang against her ribcage.

Of course. Vader wanted Luke alive…but Leia was certainly expendable, no matter the fact that she absolutely held more information than Luke.

But information wasn’t what interested Vader.

It was the potential in the Force that Luke held that caught his attention and still grasped it a year later.

“Monster…” Leia hissed, eyes narrowing onto their enemy. “You’re a monster, Vader! You only want Luke for your own selfish desires - to use him! Go ahead, kill me!” she waved her arms around. “Do it and see how much he’ll want to join you afterwards - I can tell you he already doesn’t want to!”

Vader usually had a presence that everyone seemed to feel, but it was much more muffled in this forest.

However, Leia could still feel the fiery rage that erupted in him at her words.

“You know nothing of what I desire, princess ,” he hissed, vocoder drawing out the ‘s’s. “And since you seem to desire your death so much, I will be happy to give it to you.”

Then he swung.

Time seemed to slow as Leia blinked, muscles tensing. She heard Luke yell “No!” and his blue blade intercepted Vader’s red, causing sparks to fly as Leia stumbled back from the crossed blades.

Luke seemed to be struggling holding up against Vader’s sheer might, and she scrambled back to him, grabbing his saber’s hilt, and aiding him in holding Vader off.

“Thanks,” she panted as Vader suddenly jerked his hand to the right, causing both young adults to fumble to the ground.

“Anytime,” Luke responded as they both frantically came back to their feet.

The three people stared at each other, their only light source the blue and red sabers of Luke and Vader.

Then a growl from behind Leia made her turn and she froze.

A large, black beast stood before her, teeth bared and whip-like tail waving back and forth as it stared at the three intruders.

“What. Is that?” she heard Luke hiss.

“That would be a vornskr,” came the unwanted voice of Vader. He seemed to prowl closer, for some reason coming to a halt between the wild animal and Luke. “The Ancient Sith used them as guards for the Dark Force temple on the Sith world of Dromund Kaas. This planet,” he pointed his saber to the vornskr, which snarled at the offending light. “Is their native world.”

“Thank you so much for that little history lesson!” Leia muttered, clenching and unclenching her hands.

Oh, how she wished she had her blaster…

The vornskr snapped its jaws at Vader’s outstretched saber, and Vader responded by giving it a vicious swipe, which the beast narrowly dodged, letting out a small howl as the blade singed its shoulder.

Leia winced at the guttural sound, then exchanged a meaningful look with Luke.

While Vader was preoccupied with the vornskr, they could escape…

Then Vader clamped his hand onto Luke’s saber, yanking it out of his hand and casually attaching it to his belt before gripping Luke’s arm.

Damn it!

Leia moved to help Luke get free of Vader’s grasp, but then the vornskr attacked, this time lunging for the trapped Luke.

“Luke!” Leia screamed as her friend had to do a very impressive evasive maneuver to avoid getting his waist torn into. Vader yanked Luke behind him, before slashing at the vornskr with a renewed vigor, saber crackling threateningly as the vornskr prowled forward again.

It let out a snarl of frustration, and Leia assumed it wasn’t used to its prey fighting back.

Lazy hunters.

Vader slashed at the beast again, and it backed away, snapping its jaws on last time in Luke’s direction, before darting away, whip-like tail lashing back and forth, signaling its frustration at its loss of food.

Vader disengaged his saber, and Leia’s sight was covered in the darkness. She frantically tried to peer through the darkness for Luke, blindly reaching a hand out, but froze as the familiar weight of Vader’s glove landed on her upper arm.

She grimaced as he dragged her along, and she could barely make out the struggling form of Luke.

Vader had infrared in his helmet, didn’t he? Meaning he had no trouble navigating the darkness.

They would explain how he found them so quickly earlier.

“Let go!” she heard Luke demand as he tried yanking himself out of Vader’s grip. Vader merely tightened his grip on both him and Leia in response.

Leia angrily stomped along, glaring balefully at Vader’s mask as he pulled them through the forest.

One thing was for certain.

They weren’t getting out of here without a fight.
