the moment any survival craft game lets me craft a bow it's all over for any other type of combat. why should i ever enter melee range when i can just stealth archer all over the game
So I’m still figuring myself out. How do Otherhearted people connect to the creatures/characters they otherheart if that makes sense.
(one small note, otherhearted is a noun and not a verb because it's an identity and not something you "do")
With that being said, if you're asking how we "connect to" as in "how does 'identifying with' feel?"
Then I'd describe it as having an integral connection with something. My hearttype isn't me, but something I carry with me and severing that bond would feel like a massive loss to my sense of self. Talking about my own feels like exposing a piece of my heart.
If you're asking how we "connect to" as in "how can we feel closer to or engage with our hearttypes more?"
Personally, I have the disadvantage of my hearttype being a species I created, so I can't engage with any real life animals or seek out fictional sources that exist outside my own head. But I also have a daemon who identifies as said species and talking to her tends to be the most on average I engage with my hearttype. There are smaller reminders of it I can engage with in my day to day, such as environmental factors. I'll never walk in a 1:1 environment, but sunsets / sunrises are super important to my hearttype and walking through areas with prairie grass feels like being closer to them. I also have a passive interest in subjects that are tangentially related to my hearttype like astronomy and speculative zoology/exobiology. Other activities I can do are drawing, writing, listening to certain music or soundscapes, inducing envisage (self image) shifts, voluntary shifts, or plain old daydreaming (this is actually very helpful for getting dream shifts).
Something you may also find interesting is this list of ways people have connected with their hearttypes in its early conception!
You know what’s great? ASKA.
