Feb 3rd, 2019 || My Sister, the Serial Killer mini-review. I finished this two days ago after reading it in literally two sittings. I flew through it. The language is easy to follow and since the story is told in a vignette style you can race through it in no time. . This follows Korede, a nurse with a secret: her sister Ayoola is a serial killer; and the book starts when Ayoola calls Korede to help her get rid of a body. Now, that alone picked my interest instantly and although the story is entertaining you can tell this is a debut. . Essentially this book deals with sister rivalry and what happens to Korede when her sister starts dating a doctor Korede is in love with. What if Ayoola kills him? Would Korede put her sister at risk to save him? . have to be honest, this story lacked some depth. I felt Korede was void of any personality and was way too passive-aggressive for the situation she was in. That might be what Braithwaite inteded for the beginning but that does not mean I have to like it. . So, all in all, a very entertaining and fast read, with loads of interesting themes that could’ve been explored a whole lot more in my opinion. However, Oyinkan Braithwaite is an author with potential and I’ll gladly read what she publishes next. . Have you read this?
