thinking about how different ray is at the start of another story compared to how much more unstable he grows after day 4... ray during the start of another story mustve been preparing himself mentally to look as mentally stable and well put together as he can and be his best possible self in order to look good infront of his tester. cause it's the first time he could choose something for himself, and the first opportunity he had to form a relationship with another person that wasn't family or a guardian. so he wanted to perfect everything for his tester, so his tester will like this place and so this tester will like him and wouldn't want to leave. so he put so much effort into everything, he decorated the room and picked everything himself, he tried to make everything perfect for his tester and only show her his good side so she'd never want to leave. but then when V inevitably shows up and ruins everything at the end of day 4 he falls apart because everything was going perfectly, and he just had to come and take it all away from him, take his precious tester away from him. and she even saw how weak and pathetic he really is, she saw him cry and have a mental breakdown. the image of himself he worked so hard to maintain in mc's mind just fell apart, and now she sees him for who he really is...so he grows visibly more and more unstable infront of mc than how he was like before, because now its too late, she already saw through him and knows how he's truly like...and that just makes him grow even more anxious that she'll leave him, because he sees himself and his weakness as so inherently unlikeable. so his instability only shows more and more.

i just think ray's change throughout another story is soo interesting

i actually want to make a seperate post about this because i feel like it needs to be said; the surface level understanding of saeyoung just being the "pain behind smile" archetype needs to go. not because its wrong, he DOES hide his pain behind cheerfulness, but its not necessarily the root of his character or the most important element, or even a central part at all. im going to list a few statements that go deeper within his character, closer to his core

to begin, seven's neurodivergence and queerness is one of the integral parts of his character

the whole thing about him masking his true self to seem "less complicated" and more "palatable" to others, due to processing emotions differently than others ? him being seen as "weird" and being called an "alien", one of the reasons being the fact that he engages in an activity associated with queerness aka crossdressing? seven is not necessarily insecure about being "different" but his guilt complex doesnt mesh well with his hyper self-awareness about the way he *feels* emotions. one of the reasons for his intolerance for his own self IS the fact that he thinks he is "complicated" and not just because of his job.

this brings me to the center of his emotional issues and character psychology in general, which is self-hate and the borderline inability to tolerate oneself. this, in turn, is caused by his guilt complex

guilt is what makes him so strict with himself. this strictness makes him insecure, self conscious. it leads to his intolerance of his own self and a warped perception of self. only after all of these comes the masking and the reason behind it is: 1) him being insecure about a trait of his (referring to the way he reacts to his own feelings and how he processes emotions; him seeing himself as someone "complicated") that is, not always, but still connected to neurodivergence ; 2) the difficulty of coping with stress, at least in a healthy manner, leading to his desire to constantly be that cheery 707 to forget about his problems and just . . . have fun. because maybe, its too much to bare for him

writing this at 3 am so maybe this is just me being ill about him and projecting? </33 i dunno, just wanted to get it off my chest GOOD NIGHT‼️ also if there are any diagnosed neurodivergent folks reading this, feel free to correct me because despite heavily relating to the experience and planning to get checked, i havent been actually diagnosed so YEAH

Welp. I finally got this ending for myself so why not fully dive into my Yoosung Has a Psychotic Break in the Day 5 Common Bad End analysis.

First up I noticed two things that I believe are sort of a basis for the delusion (other than Zen's dream of course), especially in the second image. I believe Rika might have once said this during an episode and Yoosung is now clinging to it as a symptom of his delusion. It also appears that Rika had mentioned "paradise" to him in passing, not fully explaining what she meant, of course, but just enough for it to linger in the back of his mind.

Next, we have the delusion itself. [Click to view full images.] Yoosung is convinced that Seven has implanted a chip within the brains of every RFA member except V. His distrust towards V resulting from all his secrets also leads him to latch to him as a sort of "villain" for his delusion. This may also be a way for his brain to try and rationalize Rika's death. Seven is also dragged into this for similar reasons, on top of the fact that he is the RFA's machine expert.

Mental breaks like this usually occur due to some stressful event or merely increased levels of stress, which is why most disorders of this nature tend to break through during college. Yoosung, on top of being a struggling college student, is still stressed from his lack of closure for the death in his family, as well as having a new person join the organization set to host the first party in a while in only a little over a week. I also think the part about the brainchip makes this go from possibly being a quirky meta commentary to a chilling character moment.

This was probably a bout of (take this with a grain of salt we I couldn't get enough info from these short convos) Brief Psychotic Disorder rather than the development of a fully fledged psychotic disorder. If Mint Eye hadn't taken him away, he likely would have been fine within a couple days with proper help. Then again, this all takes place over a couple of hours, so there's not enough data to make a concrete conclusion. That's just my speculation.

This one just scared me.

Like I got chills. This ending fucks me up, man.

Fuck having a character love you in every route. Yoosung needs fucking therapy in every route. They all do. Holy shit.

i haaate the V character assassination in ray's after ending -.- lil rant about that because I'm thinking about it again

to me it's like, would V leave the RFA to go back to rika and make himself her sacrifice entirely and leave the RFA to dedicate his all to her? YES! absolutely! yes! his whole thing is his martyr complex and how he feels like rika is his responsibility, and that he's the reason she became "corrupted", and that he's the one who should take accountability for her mental state, and for loving her unconditionally and for preventing her from making any more victims. and that he NEEDS to devote himself to her unconditionally and to be her one and only sacrifice, and he's absolutely obsessed with that idea. and he feels like a burden to the RFA and like theyll be better off without him, and that he doesn't deserve their love and their support. so yes he would ABSOLUTELY leave the RFA for rika and be on rika's side unconditionally. but would he side with rika and the choi twins dad on their plans and betray the RFA? NO! absolutely NO!!! his whole thing is that he wants no one to get hurt besides himself. and that he's on a middle ground between helping both the RFA AND rika and saeran (despite them hurting the RFA) and trying to save both sides, but making both sides his enemy because he's obsessed with taking all the burden on himself and not involving anyone else, which only makes everyone around him on both sides lose trust in him and resent him for all his secrets and his attitude of so stubbornly not letting anyone in. he wants to please both sides and let only himself get hurt, and thats his downfall and fatal flaw. that he sees as necessary because he absolutely cannot tolerate the thought of harming ANYONE or relying on anyone else. he repeatedly says that he can't let rika make more victims and that it should end with him...he'll never do anything to hurt the RFA, EVEN if it's rika who wants him to do it. yes, he'll do anything for rika, EXCEPT hurting other people that aren't himself. ESPECIALLY the RFA!!!!!!!! and i don't care if it was all a plan to save saeyoung by making him and saeran be under his and rika's care or blah blah blah, V would NEVER put the people he feels responsible for in the hands of the prime minister....and i also don't believe that he'll put them in the hands of rika aslong as he can help it, when he knows how dangerous she is... the moment he found out what she was doing to saeran, he immediately tried to get him out of there as soon as he found a moment alone with him. the only reason he couldn't was because saeran himself refused and saw him as a threat. and only destressed ray further...and later his encounter with saeran, saeran was literally threatening his life and he still stayed there BEGGING for saeran to leave with him and MC. like even if V cares more about righting his wrongs than the people he loves's well being at times, he would still not tolerate making any more victims under any circumstances! he would never betray the RFA and put the RFA or saeran in rika's and the prime minister's hands....like he'd absolutely do things that don't always align with the RFA's best interest, and aligns with what he thinks is best for them more. but this should NOT be one of those instances if we're staying true to V's character... V would never put them in the hands of people he KNOWS are dangerous to them.

that's all i seriously hate how cheritz wrote V in ray's after ending ugh

saeyoung choi takes

707 is not a fully fake persona or a lie. neither is luciel. they are parts of sae's personality that he exaggerated for others; 707 is also a coping mechanism that helped seven ease his pain and de-stress. (although it backfired because he just used this to run away from pain, in the end it all caught up to him anyway)

saeyoung is a positive, bubbly, cheerful person. he himself says he does not like being sad. being sad hurts, living the kind of life he lives hurts. this is (theory) one of the reasons why he hates himself and why he spirals so hard in his route especially: when things pile up, he cant run away from pain anymore. he can't help but sit in those negative emotions--in a way, he hates himself for not being able to protect himself from pain, ironically. once you free him of that pain though, hes still that cheerful seven you know

luciel does not have an angry bone in his body and it drives me up a wall when ppl take his forced mean attitude seriously and don't attempt to understand his reasons

seven forces himself to push mc away to literally just make her hate him. because that is the only way that it makes sense for him. people like him get so blinded by self-loathing, they forget that there are people out there who do care about them and love them. (personal experience🥲)

saeyoung's route is about striking a balance: allowing him to feel his negative emotions and guiding him through them but also having fun with him, supporting his playful personality and showing him that you guys are both funky weirdos, telling him that you get him ; seven's story is about helping him have a better relationship with himself, helping him be more forgiving and less cruel towards himself; making him understand that while he may hate himself, you don't;

I just realized that if my Yoosung's Day 5 Break Analysis holds any water, his belief in Pass Out After Drinking Caffeine Syndrom potentially gets darker.

Because if he does have to potential to experience strong delusions, it's more scary than silly that Saeyoung was able to convince him he was fainting/dying so easily. Maybe his gullibility is more a mental stability problem. Sure, some of it is attributed to his nativity, but how much is caused by his poor mental health?

Or maybe I'm just overanalyzing/projecting again.... idk but at this point I wouldn't be suprised if it was a possibility. But it very well could also be me pulling a "he's just like me fr" with my experience with delusions lmao

Finally playing the Christmas DLC and realizing exactly how important Rika was to Yoosung. Not only was she a very important part of his life, he wanted to be important to her too. He wanted to be just like her.

And, in turn, she truly cared for him as well.

There was genuine love and appreciation between them. Yoosung wasn't exaggerating when he said he saw her as a sister. She was his driving force. He never saw himself as enough, but Rika was there to light the way for him.

It just makes me really sad to think about. They were so important to each other, but then everything went to shit. Rika disappeared and Yoosung fell back into his sadness and self depreciation. There's just so much going on between all the characters, but I don't think I've ever seen this brought up.
