Hey guys! Just checking in.

Sorry we haven't been posting much! Everything has been extremely hectic lately. BUT, don't fret, we will soon share our own personal experiences from this year's Bisco and Vibes! For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, Bisco is short for Camp Bisco and Vibes for Gathering of the Vibes. These two northeast music festivals are extremely different and extremely amazing! More details to come.

MySocialCloud is a new, and somewhat stealthy, startup that aims to organize your online life through bookmarking, stream consolidation, filtering and auto-login capabilities. The service, which until now has only been available to users at a handful of colleges out in California, has some pretty impressive backers, too. The startup has raised “just shy of a million” from Sir Richard Branson and Jerry Murdock, also an investor in Flipboard and Twitter.The idea for the service was prompted by one of those awful moments in life: a hard drive crash. Explains MySocialCloud’s founder and CEO Scott Ferreira, after the event, he realized that the worst thing that he would lose off his MacBook was an Excel spreadsheet where he kept a list of his 500 usernames and passwords to various services. Not the best system, perhaps, but let’s face it – most of us have similar strategies: lists, spreadsheets, or worse – using the same password across the web. (Just admit it).Ferreira said he knew there were already technical solutions to storing your passwords online, but he didn’t really like any of the alternatives out there.“They’re not very user-friendly, they’re cumbersome to use, some of them you have pay for, and some of them look really sketchy,” he says. “So I set out to build my own.”

Tips To Use MySocialCloud.com

So here’s the deal: the MySocialCloud team is hard at work.  We’ve been rolling out new and improved features and functions for all of our beta testers to use.  We recognize that some people are still confused as to what exactly to do on the site.  So we’re definitely working on this.  But in the mean time,  here are a few tips to get you started:

                                               Use the “add” button or bookmarklet to add URLs with Usernames and Passwords to store. Logging your usernames and passwords now, will save you the hassle of remembering all of them in the future.  Install the bookmarklet under the “extras” button on the left hand side of your profile.  Whenever you visit a webpage that you want to keep on MySocialCloud, simply click the bookmarklet on your bookmarks bar and it will automatically be filled in your profile.  If you prefer to manually add the sites you use into MySocialCloud to manage their settings, click the “add” button at the top of your profile page.

 Never click “forgot password” ever again. Use MySocialCloud as the first page you ever visit when you open your Internet browser.  Whenever you need to log into a site, simply visit your MySocialCloud tab and copy the usernames and passwords that you added in step one from MySocialCloud into the service you need to log into.  And bam! No more forgetting passwords, no more even looking at passwords.

 Randomly generate a SAFE password.  Majority of the people online don’t think about having a safe password until after they are hacked – and then its too late.  Use our random password generator to generate a safe password that won’t get hacked! Using a password like LobbyLobster123 doesn’t cut it, generate a new password, change the password to our new generated password on the site you need this login information for, and never deal with the password again. Remember: all your passwords are saved with us, so you don’t ever have to know that long string of a randomized password that we generate for you.

 Organize your sites with tags. When you add a site to MySocialCloud, you are prompted to tag the site.  Tagging a site means organizing it by how you would like to remember it.  If you are adding a music website, tag it as Music or the name of a band it relates to.  Then, when you want to look at all the music sites you have added with us, you can simply click the “music” tag and all your music sites will appear.  In the future, you will be able to share your tag lists with friends so that they can see what awesome sites you use on a regular basis!
