Can anyone help me think of a use for this, or indeed help me figure out what it was originally made for? I got this roll of mystery thread in a destash lot I picked up, and at first glance I thought it would be great for heavy duty sewing work. I actually got it out planning to use it doubled to work the oversewing on my jeans patches.
But for some reason, it's ridiculously fragile. Fragile like you try to pull it through and it tangles at the back and before you know it, it's snapped. Fragile like I can break it easily between my fingers, and I have delicate little paws and normally have to use snips for all threads. I can even fold it double and still snap it with a simple pull.
But there's so much of it and it looks so nice that I'd feel pretty sick at the idea of just tossing it out. What on earth is a good use for a large amount of very aesthetically pleasing thread that you can't put under tension without breaking it? Anyone?
(It doesn't say on the cardboard core what it is, but based on a burn test I'm guessing cotton; certainly something natural, which is another reason I'd hate to waste it.)
