This took too long to write and I’m not 1000% sure I like it, but oh well. I gotta start writing more so here we go!
Hex sighed and he maneuvered through the wooded area of a new AU that had cropped up, attempting to avoid the slime trails that lay numerous upon the ground. The Papyrus-type Guardian had come with to this new AU, called Mystictale, with his best friend (or adopted brother) Rainbow, and Chalk Pastels, Rainy’s cousin. Rainbow was a guardian in training so it was important to learn what to do when new AU’s inevitably cropped up and decided to open their would to others. Rainbow’s Multiverse held quite a few peaceful Aus, while Hex’s were the opposite. Upon hearing what the new AU was like from Lock, the Sans of the AU, made Hex offered to show Rainbow Mystictale. The AU was highly adventurous and wild, yet calm and mor friendly to new people compared to the Aus Hex was used to. As for Chalk… well… while she was younger than Rainy she had a mysterious knack for making friends, which was vital to maintaining support with an AU.
When they entered the au they were supposed to meet Lock and his brother Sage, the Papyrus type, however, things didn’t go as planned. Somehow the coordinates were wrong and instead of appearing in the workshop like they were supposed to the trio first ended up in some sort of ruins, before they were suddenly separated. One of them had triggered a warp trap… and Hex had a sneaking suspicious that Rainy might have unintentionally done so. Rainbow was a happy-go-lucky kind of skeleton (Or so it seemed), however he was also rather clumsy. It was just Rainy’s luck.
The Guardian had ended up in a dense wooded area filled with Skellyslimes as they called themselves. The Skellyslimes reminded Hex of the Medi-slime bitties from a bitty shop he went to a while ago, back when he was a baby bones. He couldn’t remember many details from that time, a side effect of what occurred in the past.
The Skellyslimes had informed Hex that the Rainy and Chalk were already in the forest and that they were ok for the time being. One a bit more so than the other, but that was due to one of them being stuck upside down in a tree. Hex sighed and asked where the one who was in the tree was.
Rainbow was blinking and looking around. For some reason he was hanging upside down in a tree. He didn’t really know how he got there, but it would be a good idea to get down. Rainy reached up to untangle his foot from the branch it was caught in when he noticed some skeleton sticking out of a blobby thing staring at him. “Huh…?”
The Skellyslime grinned at him and waved. “Oh hello there brother! You got your foot stuck. Do you need help?”
Blink…. Many blinks. Rainbow was processing what he was seeing and wondering if it was an illusion of some sort. Seeing that the skeleton was confused made the Skellyslime grin more and settle down on it’s slime body to wait for the other to start flailing wildly or ask for help. Surprisingly to the Skellyslime it was the latter.
“Oh yeah some help would be nice! Thanks.” Rainbow replied grinning at the slime. The Skellyslime nodded and whistled. Many different colored Skellyslimes and slime monsters soon appeared. The normal slimes were sitting under rainy just in case anything went wrong. The Skellyslimes themselves bounced up the tree to aid the first Skellyslime with freeing Rainbow. One of the younger Skellyslimes that was a green color looked at Rainbow confused. “Brother where’s your slime? You’ll get hurt without it!”
Rainy blinked at the young Skellyslime. “Slime? I don’t have slime… unless you mean my ecto?”
“No slime…? I dunno what ecto is.” The green Skellyslime responded confused only to be patted by another Skellyslime. “Big brother here is a different type of skeletal monster.” She replied, which made the younger one brighten up in relief that Rainy wasn’t in any danger.
The Skellyslimes managed to loosen Rainy’s trapped foot. The Skellyslimes under Rainy were grabbing his hands to try and catch him if he fell. In preparation some of the smiles that were big enough made their slime wrap around the branch. “Ready?” The Skellyslime that was on top of the branch Rainy was trapped in queried.
The slime monsters all yelled that they were and Rainy chuckled and nodded. “Yup I’m ready.”
Almost instantly the guardian in training fell, only to be grabbed by the surprisingly strong Skellyslimes.
“It would be easier if we could let you fall to the Slimes below… it’s also pretty fun!” The young blue Skellyslime chittered leaping off of the branch and to the ground below.
“I don’t think that’s necessary.” came Hex’s voice from below. Rainbow could feel his soul turn blueand being lowered to the ground gently.
“Aww… Hex I wouldn’t have minded having the slimes catch me.” Rainy replied pouting a little.
“I know Rainy, but your pops and “Mama” would have my head if I let anything happen to you… or Chalk… which of whom I haven’t seen yet.” And which was making Hex worried.
“Oh the rainbow girl? She’s with our king!” The blue Skellyslime states moving off into the undergrowth He still was speaking to Hex and Rainy. “Follow me I know the quickest way to the king!”
Hex shook his head and chuckled before looking at Rainy. “Normally first meeting aren’t this chaotic, but then again… my multiverse can be rather chaotic.”
Rainy chuckles before replying teasing Hex. “No wonder you’re so busy.”
Hex rolls his eye lights before following the Skellyslimes to a rather steep hill. Hex blinked owlishly as the Skellyslimes handed him what looked like a rug. “What’s this for?”
“For sliding down the hill!”
Hex paled as he stared dow the steep “hill” then looked at Rainy who seemed intrigued by the whole thing. In fact there were stars in the young Guardian in training’s eye sockets. “I think I might just teleport down.” Hex sighed, knowing he wouldn’t get help from Rainy once the other has stars in his eyes like he now did.
Rainy frowns at Hex. “Aww come on He-” Rainy has walked over to Hex, going to explain how fun it’s going to be till the boy tripped over his own feet and collided with Hex, who in turn along with Rainy was launched forward onto the rug. The duo now found themselves rapidly sliding down the hill. Rainy clung desperately to Hex as the maroon clad skeleton started screaming, clinging to the rug just as desperately as Rainy was clinging to him. “NYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! RAAAAIIINNNYYYYY WHYYYYYYYYY???????”
“IIII’MMM SORRRYYYYYYY!”
The duo seemed to be going faster and faster down the hill. There were a few Skellyslimes sliding down the hill with the duo, but there was nothing they could do to help really. Some attempted to slow the duo down with sticky slime, but thanks to the coating on the rug it was no use. Others grabbed the duo’s feet and tried to slow the duo down that way, but the poor Skellyslimes couldn’t hold on for long before they went tumbling away. Seeing their attempts fail, some of the Skellysmiles zoomed right past the others and stopped near a huge Skellyslime.
Hex couldn’t hear what was being said, but the large slime turned it’s hear from someone it was speaking with. The multicolored being grinned and sent out a tendril of it’s slime and wrapped it around the rapidly approaching duo, gently lifting them up and effectively stopping them from crashing into a wall or something similar. The tendril receded while also lowering the duo to the ground.
Hex had a death grip on the rug as Rainy still had a death grip on Hex. The duo were unaware that someone was approaching them until a hand reached out and shook Hex’s arm. Hex blinked in confusion before looking at a Sans.
“you ok there buddies?” He asked looking at them with concern in his eye lights. “you’re uh… not supposed to ride down the hill like that.”
Hex stared blankly at the Sans. “I’ll keep that in mind for the next time.” He replied shakily shaking his head to clear his head. Hex looked at the Sans again. From the reports this appeared to be Lock.
“name’s lock.” Lock replied as if reading Hex’s thoughts before turning to the giant Skellyslime. “and this is wiggles, the king of the skellyslimes. yer friend chalk has already met him. sorry about the warp trap. bro forgot to disable it before you came.”
“Ah… well as long as no one was hurt then it’s fine, but I might need to warn others just incase they want to visit.” Hex mused before looking around for Chalk. “So Chalk is safe?”
In reply to Hex’s question a ball of slime flew through the air and beamed Rainy in the head. “Crap I missed… sorry cuz!” Came Chalks voice and she was seen jumping on Wiggles and laughing. At least she seemed cheerful. Hex sighed as he felt Rainbow flinch from the slime, but it seemed to have woken him up.
The guardian-in-training wiped the slime off of his skull and messed with it. “It’s kinda gooey feeling, but it’s also warm and cold at the same time…?” Rainy mumbled not fully focused on the slime and little else.
Hex blinked at Rainbow and sighed. “Rainy…?”
The Skeleton was still focused on the slime, causing the other to shake his head and begin speaking with the Sans of MysticTale.
Chalk in the meantime was speaking with Wiggles. “Ah so they’re your cousins…?” The king Skellyslime chuckled holding the girl in his hands. Chalk nodded in reply.
“Yeah those two are guardians of the multiverse… you know if you ever wanted to come visit another part of the multiverse I’m pretty sure I can twist Uncle Mage’s arm to let you visit. My dad will want to thank you for helping me out.” Chalk states cheerfully.
Wiggles chuckles and lowers the Dust/Ink child towards his body. “I feel bad about swallowing you heal you there. You were pretty freaked out.”
“Don’t worry about it Wiggles. It’s better that you kept me calm than for me to go out on a rampage… even if that human was aiming to hurt that little negislime.”
Wiggles chuckled. “Well even so I apologize for scaring you at first, but I have to thank you for saving my cousin’s kiddo and getting rid of a problematic human. You did my job for me really.”
“Yeaaaah do me a favor and don’t brink that up around Hex… er… the tall skeleton… I’d rather avoid a lecture if I can.”
Wiggles chuckled and nodded, he could do that for the girl.
Eventually Rainy stopped playing with the slime and attempted to focus on what Hex was doing, but once he fully noticed Wiggles the skeleton lost track of everything once again.
“HE’S SO BIG!!!” Rainy exclaimed gently poking Wiggles’ slime body.
Chalk was laying on top of Wiggles and chuckles at Rainy. “Course he is… he’s a King Skellyslime. Apparently this world is more lie an RPG type of world… and that’s what Wiggles here is classified as… a king Skellyslime.”
“I’m just big… I don’t have much power.” Wiggles explains as Hex comes back over to the others. He had been working with Lock on the specifics on opening their AU to the rest of the Multiverse.
“I think were just about done here.” Hex states tiredly. “I can’t wait to relax at home…” The taller skeleton griped as wiggles picked up Hex and settled the guardian on his slime.
Hex almost instantly relaxed. “Oh… uh thank you.”
Wiggles chuckled and does the same to Rainy. “Don’t mention it. Let me help you guys out for a bit before you go.” The trio was healed of their aches and fatigue before they were allowed to finally leave.
