I live :)))
Nindja redesigns; first time I actually had fun with a background (I mostly used those ibis "materials"/stickers).
Designs separated below!
Mixels Frenzy: The End
And we’ve officially come to the end of the art project; closing my own tribute to this underrated little gem of a franchise that has left a huge impact on my life. All 81 Mixels, drawn, colored, and presented! Overall it has been a swell time revisiting this series, and drawing out all these fun, wacky, and imaginative looking creatures. Getting to talk about all my personal favorite characters, while also finding some new appreciation for some others.
I feel very accomplished working on this project, it allowed me to sharpen up my drawing skills, create my own release schedule, as well as experimenting around with the color pencils set that I got for Christmas. I’ll probably do something like this again for a different series/franchise in the future, but for now, I’m going to move on to some new smaller projects. I’ve been drawing Mixel characters for nearly 3 months and I kinda want to take a break for now. But I’ll certainly get back to it at some point, I might even consider drawing out all the Maxes.
Anyways, Thank you to everyone who has stuck around for this 2+ month long project. I hope you enjoyed this little series as much I did, and that you’ll stay tuned to more of my upcoming art pieces.
Some Mixels doodles
I suppose I should have seen all these cameos coming. This comic is written by the same guy who wrote some of those old Batman: The Brave and The Bold comics. So naturally we're getting as many camoes as they can fit into the book. I wonder if that means we'll see some of the other characters from The Brave and The Bold comic book. Captain Marvel/Shazam? Ragman? Phantom Stranger? Aquaman? I know Sholly Fisch wrote for them, but it's somehow harder to learn anything about him as a person. But I digress. (Scooby Doo Team-Up #3):
But really, getting these cameos is nice. Thank you, DC. Introducing your younger fans to Doctor Terrence Thirteen, the Ghost-Breaker? To Roy Raymond, the TV Detective? Even to Mysto, a guy who only made 10 appearances back in the 50s? Commendable. We're really pulling out the stops. I respect it.
Mixels: Series 9
Time for a new Mixel contest OC, and the theme was "Tribal Convergence", basically like those old "tribe swaps" I used to do, and here's my combo: Mysto as a Wiztastic!
Mystix is a quiet and mysterious Wiztastic leader. The leader of a small group of magicians, instead of flashy shows, he instead travels the world with his team. He is never expected, but he's always able to arrive exactly when needed. The spells that he's best at are barrier ones, keeping other Mixels safe from Nixels, who are unable to pass through his spell walls.
