My Surrender

“Lou?” Zayn spoke through the darkness of the room but Louis didn’t respond and Zayn held his breath, nodding his head as he lay back down. Pulling the blanket up to his chin, he sighed, trying to settle once again.

“You never shut up,” Louis remarked, causing Zayn to smile without thinking about it, “Always talking. Waking me up in the middle of the night when you can’t sleep.”

“I haven’t done that in years,” Zayn smirked to himself, feeling that Louis was smiling too. “Probably since I slept with you, not that it was any good.”

“Ha,” Louis scoffed and then began to chuckle, deep within his chest, “I was the best you ever had, baby.”

“I meant the actual sleeping part,” Zayn said with a roll of his eyes, “You were terrible, always taking the covers. I’d wake up an icicle in the middle of the night, so I had to wake you up.”

“I was still the best,” Louis muttered like a child and Zayn smiled, knowing it was exactly true. Louis had been his first and only for a while, but each partner since then had been disappointing, though Zayn had his reasons why that was.

“You were all right,” Zayn smiled to himself, knowing it would rile Louis up to hear it. He was right as he heard Louis moving in the bed. He opened his eyes, able to see Louis staring down at him from where he lay in the bed.

“I think I made you scream quite perfectly,” he smirked and then lifted a hand, beckoning Zayn towards him with one finger. Zayn watched him, able to see through the scattered light from the hall.

“I think you’re overestimating your abilities,” he laughed, shaking his head, “And no. I’m not getting up. It took ages to get comfortable.”

“Come here,” Louis whined then and Zayn rolled his eyes, huffing dramatically as he climbed off the cot and moved to stand beside Louis’ bed. “I knew you’d listen if I whined.”

I'm cleansing my soul

I’m not going to sit here and put down someone that once made me feel alive. People change each other. I made mistakes and so did she. She may not admit it and that’s fine. Im not going to let anger fill my soul. She once made me happy. And we both changed each other. I will be honest, I have never lied to her. I could not deal with the guilt of lying to her. I was selfish, and to a degree so was she. And that’s what toxic relationships do. It wasn’t always toxic. We were happy at one point, but along the way, jealousy, assumptions, and overthinking ruined us. She was my first true love. And she will always hold a special place in my heart. If you’re reading this, I’m done being upset. I’m not going to be hateful towards you because I used to not be a hateful person. I used be positive about most things or I at least tried to be. I used to pick people up and make sure that if they were upset I made them smile even the slightest bit. I was the one that gave people chance after chance no matter how much they messed up because people make mistakes and I can’t fault them on that. But I changed. And I want to be who I used to be again. I was selfish. I felt alone and I ended up being selfish. And you felt alone and did the same. I’m not putting the blame on you. I’m putting the blame on us. Because it was us that ruined what we had. If you don’t want to admit that then that’s fine. But I can’t live with hatred in my heart anymore. I can’t leave us on such hateful terms the way we left it. So here is my surrender of hatred. You may not want to talk to me. And I understand that. But we were once friends. And I will always be here for you.
