The Upwards Journey -- Nuwara Eliya

The exceptionally picturesque train route connects Colombo to Nanuoya. The track changes from narrow to standard gauge and to narrow again, beholding frightful steeps.  Muscular mountains and chasms are daunting for the train ride. Flourishing greenery covered hills beckons great curves. You might consider interrupting the journey at the sight of fine tea estates harking back to an English era.  

When we reached the pine covered mountain tops, the rain caught up. It was almost like a mythical forest appeared out of nowhere. The dark-tall silhouettes of pine trees were imprisoned by the shadows of ominous rain clouds and allowed the rain to torment the ever-green ferns and mosses lying innocently on the slopes. Webs of cascading water, veils of cloud, and buildings wearing a bygone gesture also lend mystery to the secluded hills.

And before we saw the end of the hills rolling into the horizon, we reached the train station.
