Lightning <3 MythosEthan

Lightning’s a funny thing. 

Of course, there’s the whole ‘never striking the same placetwice’ thing — though that notion could be easily debunked with a few short googlesearches. No. What’s curious about lightning is not necessarily its choice oftarget, but how it builds — silent and without obviousform — before it explodes into existence. Vibrant and electric. 

There was no better way to describe the feeling that ricochetedthrough Rhett’s limbs than electric. As though he were both the cloud and thelightning rod. The thunderhead had been forming for a lifetime, and Link’s lipson his sent the last electron jumping out of orbit. That final charged ion setoff an eruptive reaction that was now firing out of his fingertips andstuttering his heart.

And in the wake of the brilliant flash of energy? The firstrumbles of thunder that will shake the ground beneath their feet. From adistance, it’s a long rolling quake, but where they stand the sound of it isnearly deafening. It’s like the crack of a whip, breaking the sound barrier, butthey don’t hear a thing. Wrapped together in the thunderstorm they’ve builttogether, they will stand as one.
