Grimm | 4x20 | Some thoughts during re-watch
Nadalind | Nick & Adalind
I really love this scene for so many reasons. First, the musical score that is playing while Adalind is realizing the spell worked and she lost her powers is just so hauntingly beautiful. Up until this moment she is doing all she can do to save her baby and herself. She wants her baby and will do whatever she has to do to keep him. Even if it means helping the people that helped take her baby away. (While in contrast, Juliette is loving the power and does not want to give it up, for anyone.)
The Grimm (Scooby) gang goes along with Adalind’s plans, even though they don’t fully trust her. They’re also not sure if the spell will work But they are doing it for Juliette. They still have hope. So they go along with it. (At the same time Juliette is working with their enemies)
Right before this scene, Adalind offers to test drink the potion to suppress the Hexenbiest in her to make sure it works. They all look at her in surprise. I don’t think they believed she could be that selfless for anyone. But she drinks it and then we get the scene above.
Look at Nick and Rosalee’s reactions. They look so sympathetic towards Adalind. I think their heart goes out to her and at the same time they are in awe that she was really willing to sacrifice everything for them and her baby. She is now vulnerable and has to trust them to protect her. The same people who wanted her dead not so long ago.
They realize what she has given up. They remember the Adalind who lost her powers and went through so much to get them back. She wanted them back and would do anything for that power. Being a Hexenbiest was everything to her. When Nick first took her powers away she told him that he killed her and she was now nothing. She really believed she had nothing to live for. So for Nick and Rosalee to see Adalind sacrifice her life and give it all up, was huge. She was not the same Adalind. Something was happening to her, for the better.
Just some thoughts while I was re-watching. I tend to ramble on but this scene really hit me, especially knowing Adalind’s history. Great scene.
