Another fun fact about N. Chant:
Due to her love for Dr. Cortex, she’s REALLY protective of him. If someone tried to hurt him in any way, she would throw herself in front of him and throw down with the attacker.
I keep imagining an extreme case, with Cortex’s mother showing up at the castle for some reason, and she’s threatening him with violence, inching towards him. Cortex is backing up, begging and pleading with his mother to leave him alone. N. Chant sees this, and without thinking twice, speeds over and punches Mother Cortex in the face.
Like, N. Chant doesn’t care that Mother Cortex is an old lady. She knows what an abusive relationship looks like, and all she cares about is that NO ONE lays a hand on her man (regardless of whether she’s in a relationship with Cortex or not).
And Mother Cortex is just lying on the floor, and only just managed to pick her head up when N. Chant grabs her by the collar and verbally rails into her, telling her she’s a terrible mother and that she doesn’t deserve a son like Neo. Then she yells at her to leave the island before she REALLY gets hurt.
Mother Cortex is stunned because no one’s ever stood up to her before. She yells at Dr. Cortex to help her, and he nearly does before N. Chant shouts at Mother Cortex to “STOP MANIPULATING HIM, YOU OLD BAT! NOW GET OUT BEFORE I TURN YOU INTO A SLUG!” And N. Chant lets go of her, and Mother Cortex runs away, scared out of her mind.
Cortex is blown away by what just happened, and he wants to be horrified by N. Chant’s actions... but at the same time, he feels so very satisfied that his mother got what was coming to her. Plus, the speech N. Chant delivered secretly makes him happy. He tells N. Chant that he didn’t think punching his mother was necessary, but thanks for defending him nonetheless. And N. Chant is like, “My pleasure, Dr. Cortex”.
I dunno, maybe it’s a bit much; that’s an extreme case anyway. I just really wanna see N. Chant deck Cortex’s mom because she’s such a bitch.
