Unable to really control it, it’s not meant to be cruel or mean it was simply not expecting to hear that and the very idea of it literally happening was very amusing to the old man.

Caretaker

Frank knocked on the door, and carefully eased it open as he balanced the tray on his hip.

“Hey.” He greeted the prone figure on the bed, setting the tray down on a nearby chest of drawers. A groan came from somewhere within, and Frank let out a soft sigh.

“I know, I know. I brought you soup, and some juice.” Frank offered, still speaking softly. “If you eat and drink, I’ll stay for a while.”

The figure sat up from the nest of blankets, and Frank gave a warm smile to Borna. “How do you feel?”

There was only a soft whine, and Frank took up the bowl of soup, and started to slowly feed it to her. “At least half of it…okay?”

Time passed as Frank fed her the soup, talking about the daily ongoings of the hotel, his new mastery of his banshee powers, and even a new guest that dropped by. When the soup was gone, medicine and juice were offered, which Borna happily swallowed.

Frank tucked her back into bed for more rest, his hand pressing to her forehead to check. Though slightly clammy, the fever was gone, and Frank moved to settle next to her among the blankets, a hand reaching out to hold hers.

“I’ll get you sick.”

“Don’t care.” Frank told her lightly, with a smile. “Get some rest. Feel better.”
