☆ LMAO, TUMBLR??
HOW TF DID I GET SHADOWBANNED??
☆ I said it before and will say it again.
Vasco feels like two different people with and without his hat.
☆ I feel like in Dragon Age, the Sea-Horse crew has a little more freedom. In other words, they can see their captain every now and then before they head back to work. While Vasco can visit them any time whenever he wants, given there is no rule saying he can't come by the harbors, I feel like they visit him anyways because they love him too much to not visit him when they can. Plus, they want to see what he has been up to and find themselves befriending a lot of people at Skyhold.
You just see Vasco in the background like:
Gerry shrugs. “Not all sailors are Nauts,” he points out. “To some people, it’s just a job, not the entirety of who they are. They might have a family on the shore and don’t need to find a family in their crewmates, who they see more as coworkers.” To assume a member of a Lonely crew has a family waiting for them somewhere else is an awfully generous one to make. But just like not all sailors are Nauts, they aren’t all Lonely, either. There are some sailors who are in the middle, who are just average, not operating under either extreme.
He wonders what the Lukases would think of the idea that family should never be left behind. He has heard rumors that they can come together when it really counts, but the problem is that it rarely ever counts enough.
Gerry has the unique perspective of an outsider and can see that neither group is perfect, although he believes the Nauts are far and away the better option. He is genuinely glad that they take care of Vasco, who seems to not have anywhere else to go, like one of their own. But it bothers Gerry a little how they try to prevent him from talking to outsiders under the guise of ‘protecting’ him. Overall, the boy could have it a lot worse, he supposes.
Gerry gives Vasco a strained, wistful smile and says, “I think… family is not always equivocal to love and that if it comes to picking between the two, you should choose the latter as often as possible.” Easier said than done, he thinks, recalling the only serious boyfriend he has ever had, dumped out of a paranoia that his mother would find out and ruin it for him. He wanted to control his destiny and burn that bridge before she could. “I think it’s great that the Nauts seem to give you both—just… be careful not to let them dictate your entire life, all right? When you’re the age you are now, it’s easy to get caught up in the idea that the adults in your life are always right.”
❝Of course, I know that. Not all sailors are Nauts, but there's a lot of Nauts running around.❞ His mind is still wrapping around everything about the Nauts. It's not because Vasco couldn't remember, but there are certain things that are locked until he progress further with his own sailors. As far as he is aware, the Nauts are the biggest group of sailors and the best in the pool of competition. Despite people not having a high opinion on them, no one can deny how great the Nauts can be.
Vasco couldn't imagine being a sailor elsewhere. He is fine with where he is now, even if sometimes he doesn't have the best opinions of his fellow crew mates.
❝Of course not. I think they only want the best for me or the best for the children like me, even though they can sometimes go too far. I do appreciate you looking out for me like that. I'm sure they aren't like that. Even if they are the closes people I can get to for family.❞
Speaking of family.......
❝Do you have a family?❞
◤❀Cнαrαcтer'ѕ Sтυdy: ✿◢
➤ Meet the Nauts.
The Nauts are a secretive guild full of sailors. As mentioned in the previous sentence, they are full of secrets. While they can be brought to keep certain secrets, such secrets can go for a ridiculous amount of money, given that anyone who isn't a Naut wants to know about them. How they work / function, what makes them great sailors, and what makes them the only ones to master the art of sailing in the universe of Greedfall. Of course, nothing gets past and not everyone knows how this guild works. What they do is transport both goods / cargo as well as people from one place to another across the sea.
They are also known to have the most advanced technology compare to the other factions we see in the game. Such as Dolphin's Cry, which is basically a sonar and helps measure the depths of the ocean, which no other could possible have this. Mind you, this is a new technology too the Nauts recently developed. They also have tools to measure and determine the weather.
While they have been around for a looooong while, they have their own island. It is a mystery what it looks like and what their city structure looks like, save for mentions. Such as when Lady Morange mentions that their city structure are not quite like many we see. It's not clustered together and the buildings are said to stand with a pretty good gap in between. The island is also where all the Nauts' ships are developed and created as well. We can assume that's where their technology is developed too, though it is unsure.
To look for a Naut, look for the facial tattoos (as seen throughout the video) or the seafarer uniform they are known to be wearing. While many Nauts do have facial tattoos, not every single one of them do. The higher rank you are, the more tattoos you'll get. Such as Admiral Cabral's face where she has the most tattoos we see so far. Vasco will get more tattoos - if you choose to do his personal quests - to retrieve such things.
The way the Nauts are recruited is in three ways. Either you are sea-born, sea-given, or a volunteer. Volunteers are a rarity, given not many tend to sign up for the life of a sailor. Not only because of how dangerous the sea can be, but also how many doesn't have high opinions on the Nauts, despite making businesses with them. We have seen one volunteer so far and that is Alba. I have yet to capture her moment in the game. Many Nauts are either sea-born or sea-given. Sea-born are Nauts that are born on the ships and handed over to the Nauts. A rule that is given after ensuring no more bloodshed some years back. Sea-given are children who are given up by their families because of either the truce that happened some years back or some kind of business the family wants. One of the examples is Jonas where his father gave him up for the sake of sailing. It various from family to family on why they have given up their children.
Once their child - or more - is given up, they will become anonymous to the family and will go by a different name. An example to this is Vasco. He is a sea-given and was given up by his family. He never knew his name until he went hunting for his true identity. We know - and almost his entire life, he - knew him by Vasco.
The chin tattoos will represent which you are. A sea-given or a sea-born. All volunteers are grouped into sea-givens.
Despite their way of recruiting can be quite awful, they are known to view each other as family. This is stated quite a few times throughout the game. Not only by Vasco, but also by Admiral Cabral. They always looking out for each other.
The known Nauts we have seen: Vasco, Jonas, Lauro, Flavia, Admiral Cabral, Ruben (not seen in the video above), Alba (not seen in the video above), unnamed Naut (that one man looking up while cleaning the ship), and Fernando. De Sardet is an optional choice if you choose to do Vasco's quests correctly and get the Nauts' tattoos.
☆ I'll be back. I want to create another video edit on the Nauts and introduce them properly to people. Just so people aren't over here like, "who tf are the Nauts."
☆ I can only imagine this:
In Dragon Age, Vasco's crew coming to Skyhold to visit Vasco and teaching everyone the sea shanties they have taken and made up.

@seeasunset has requested a story : ❝How do you know so much about me?❞ (Vasco getting amnesia :3c / @ Lhore)
𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒅.
When word came that something had happened to Vasco , Lhore ( like most ) did not want to accept it. The more she was told – about the incident , about his injury , about how he had forgotten so much of everything because of it – the more she felt a distinct r u p t u r e tearing through her ; this was grief , she realized ( though the loss was not her own , it still felt as though some part of her was being stolen ) . Did this not prove her right ? She KNEW she should have left by now ! But damned if she was not waiting for the proper moment ( whatever , whenever , that would have been ) to go , to say farewell and to cling to the pleasantness of the Captain’s company for a l i t t l e longer. Now may as well have been the right time to leave – and no-one would have blamed her – but she felt compelled to see him , if only the l a s t time , if only to be assured he would be okay ( or so she tells herself as she sits there in the waiting room waiting for the time to be called to his bedside ) .
Questions upon questions overcome her : How much did he forget ? How long would it be ‘til he remembered anything ? What would it take to help him heal ? Only the same answer greeted her , ‘ time will tell . ’ But there was little time to spare when she had already prepared herself to leave this port behind ⸺
⸺ And how was she meant to say good-bye to a man , to a friend , who now only knew her as a STRANGER ?
With the call from the nurse , Lhore is escorted into Vasco’s room. At the very least , he looks lucid and well taken care of. Sitting down on the chair beside his bed , she plucks off the hat ( a gift from him always worn ) from her head and greets him with a gentle tone , a small smile. Sensing a tense silence , Lhore fills the void by speaking ; she introduces herself , she tells him about himself ( as the nurse advised might help ) , she tells him about some memories they shared together— His question startles her , pointed ears downturning slightly as she frowns at him. His look is seeking , uncertain ; he’s making to u n d e r s t a n d the information the qilin offers but can’t seem to.
Lhore looks down to her lap , idle claws picking at the gilt seams of her hat as she considers an appropriate way to respond. ❝ We are good friends , Vasco , ❞ It’s a simple , t r u t h f u l , explanation. She waits , looking up to watch his tattooed features for any sign of clarity ; none comes , not for either of them. Lhore sighs , closes her eyes. ❝ We have many memories together , memories I dearly cherish. You were … The reason I ended up staying in this town for so long. I am sorry … I could not give much more of a revelation than that. ❞
It wasn't easy to acknowledge - accept - the fact that someone knew who he is and he doesn't. Is it what the nurse had told him? That he didn't remember certain things because of a pretty bad fight?
Bloody seas! He couldn't even remember the fight at all. Why it started, who won, why he got injured so much, so on and on forth. Every time Vasco tried to recall, the details slipped away from him. Just like water through the small gaps between his fingers, unable to be held for too long. Too slippery. The Naut captain hated it! He hated not remembering anything at all, including this woman before him. He wanted to remember and yet here he is, sitting like a waiting duck.
For what? Couldn't he go and collect the memories on his own?
Regardless, Vasco remained seated. His attention being mainly on what this woman has explained to him. Everything she could think of. Sure, he grew impatient every now and then, but he resisted to get up and move. There's something within him that told him he should continue to listen. He couldn't wrap his mind around all of this at all.
His hands had clasped together in his laps. His knuckles turning white from how much he has tightened his hold with his hands. A deep frown on his lips as he thought.
❝Don't be sorry. You have done the best you could have done. I can't blame you for not providing more.❞ A sigh slipped past Vasco's lips. His gaze going from the wall to the woman. Lhore. ❝Thank you for providing what I need. I do appreciate it a lot. I......hope my memories do come back to help me remember further. I hate having to deal with this, y'know.❞
“Oh, I haven’t actually cooked anything yet,” Gerry confesses. “Do you want me to? I’d planned to go out...” When he travels, he brings a small portable stove with him, but he only uses it in emergencies. Otherwise, he’s stopping at restaurants, whether they are sit-down or fast food. It isn’t like he doesn’t have plenty of money for it. As much as he hated being involved in his mother’s business, it did kind of set him up for life.
“We’d have to go to the store and grab a few things in that case,” he says, “if you don’t mind.” Gerry doesn’t mind going to the store or cooking dinner, but he knows Vasco might not want to wait that long. The kid does seem to be hungry right this very second. Or maybe he is exaggerating how hungry he is so that Gerry will pity him and give him some sweets. It is like kids—and really, like everyone—to eat only for pleasure because the food tastes good rather than out of necessity.
“I don’t usually keep a lot of food to cook packed on me.” He also has the problem of it going rancid if hotels don’t have anywhere to properly store it, hence the portable stove not getting used much. “But yeah, we can do that if you want. Then, you can choose what you want for dinner, as long as it’s not candy. I reserve the right to say ‘no’ to anything that’s not real food.”
Goodness, doesn’t he sound like a dad now— He does not mean to, and maybe he should back off a little with that nonsense. After all, Vasco already has a family and people who care for him, and he doesn’t need Gerry to fill that role. Still, he has to admit that it feels good to care for someone in such a way, to be a positive force in somebody’s life, to be liked. When he was a boy, he rejected every hand that was extended towards him, and well… he supposes that being the one to extend the hand this time sort of feels like making up for it.
“A little snack won’t kill you, but not getting the calories you actually need might.”
Gerry cannot help the little amused smile that overtakes him when Vasco asks him enthusiastically if he promises. “Yeah, I promise,” he answers. “A storm seems like a dangerous thing to swear on, so I’ll, uh… swear on something less turbulent.” He stops for a moment while he contemplates what that might be. “I swear on… that seashell necklace you gave me the other day. If I don’t deliver, I’ll have to give it back to you, and I really like it, so I don’t want to do that. That way, if I break my promise, I’ll have to be punished for it, so you know I won’t.”
❝Well, I'll take whatever you're offering!❞ Whatever can come into his hands and he can eat, he'll be happy to take whatever. Even if Gerry isn't the greatest cook and has to use take-outs, better than nothing. Plus, the young Naut could only imagine if he said he ate take-outs. Captain Cedro would not approve at all. He would rather see the kid get proper meals by hand-made cooking, even if it meant the two having to sit down and watch someone else cook.
A slight pout formed onto Vasco's lips at the mention of real food. Of course, the older man would say that! How unfair!
Regardless, the pout is quickly gone, replaced by a thoughtful look. Vasco even brought his finger to his cheek to tap against it.
❝Well, I'm not entirely sure. We can walk and see what they got. I'm sure they have something.❞ His mind is drawing blanks, resulting in Vasco to lower his hand and frowned at such things.
❝I don't want you to give it back to me. It's yours to begin with. You can't return the gift! That isn't fair at all! Try another punishment.❞
incoming call from @seeasunset ▰▰▰▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱ [ source x. ] [ Girl … You hit her with a car! ]
Adrenaline is coursing through her veins, their heart practically beating out of their chest as they continue to white-knuckle the wheel. Cupid hasn't bothered to take her eyes off the road, not even really to check and see if they're still being pursued, though her gaze narrows in response to Vasco's exclamation.
"And?" They ask curtly, jerking the wheel to the left towards what looks more like a construction site than anything. Where was that damn entrance-
"Shoulda jumped outta the way faster. She'll live." The woman had been in a pretty classy looking pantsuit, so Cupid assumed by the time the bumper hit her that Trauma Team would have been receiving a call. "Now's not the goddamn time to nit-pick my driving either."
There it is.
Flooring it, they aim dead on towards a decline, not making any other movements until they're dangerously close to the wall that the road goes towards. This time, instead of turning the wheel hastily, a hand reaches down to pull up the e-brake. The motion locks up the back wheels, and Cupid throws that same arm that had been on the brake out to keep Vasco in place as the car lurches to a stop. Behind them, the air shimmers - a telltale sign of a projection.
"She looked expensive anyways, doubt I actually did any real damage to her."
Perhaps he shouldn't have said anything. It is to be expected when driving at this wild pace. Not only with the speed, but with how they keep driving around. Well, Cupid is driving. Vasco is just hanging on with dear life in the passenger side, watching everything unfold. Something is bound to happen and he didn't expect anyone to be hit, though he can't be surprise either.
❝I'm not trying to nitpick your driving right now. I'm just saying you had, at least, a good amount of space to get where you need to be. It's like you were aiming straight for her.❞
Even if the woman was expensive and could afford on her own, it didn't matter. Hopefully she didn't mesmerized their faces or any of that sort. He didn't want to deal with that on the side. It should be the least of his problems right now though.
❝Can you be careful next time?❞
@seeasunset ▰▰▰▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱ [ continued from source x. ]
Shaking their head, they take the bag back and drop it down onto the ground, "Nah, didn't need to." They had purposefully put the outfit itself in an extra take-away bag they had laying around within the nicer, branded bag, just to see if anyone would notice. She is a tad disappointed, perhaps, that he doubled down on the facts or whatever, though it doesn't show on their features.
"Two things 'bout what you just said," Cupid straightens up, picking up the bag proper now and holding it against their hip as their other hand raises to count. "First being that I don't get shitfaced 'til later in the evening, second being that if I'm going to make a joke about something, I will carry through with a full execution of said joke. You only got part one of the joke, here's part two."
❝And you might based off of those words you just said.❞ It's a huge might, but Vasco isn't surprised if Cupid did find themselves shitface later in the evening. It's to be expected, even if it seems a bit wrong to assume. Who knows, they could surprise the fixer. ❝So, you expect the joke to actually happen. I am not the person to get into it.❞
No amount of bribery or money would put him into such outfit. There has to be other ways for him to get into it and Cupid will have to figure that out one way or another.
☆ I'll put this in a proper post, but that fear HC I've posted the other day?
It also stems from the fact that people constantly left his life. It didn't matter if it came from the Nauts or from someone outside the Nauts. While family is a heavy thing within the Nauts, they are a human being like anyone else. So, betrayal will occur or death will occur. Betrayal because a Naut is hungry for power or hungry for money. Death because sailing the sea isn't easy. There will be someone who will get lost at sea or sometimes something happens at sea. Sometimes an enemy can come. After all, I am still stuck on Admiral Cabral saying the Nauts aren't accustomed to fighting on land compare to the sea, which indicates these sailors has fought at sea. It could be within themselves, with enemies, or something else entirely that they are keeping from others.
Anyways, Vasco doesn't want to end up completely lonely. He is fine being on his own. Alone and lonely can be two separate things, even if it can go hand-in-hand.
