Sam was panicking. She knew it. Knew it but couldn’t stop it.  

Danny didn’t seem to notice. After Tucker left, he’d settled into the hard plastic chair, sliding down so his butt was on the edge and the back of his head propped on the back rest. He’d closed his eyes and not moved, other than to grip his stomach.  

And if Danny wasn’t looking at her, there was no incentive for Sam to not fall apart.  

There was nothing to do. Nothing but sit and stare at Danny. Nothing but clench her phone tight. No ghost to fight. No person to yell at. No first aid supplies to try to use in Tucker’s absence. Just her, in a room rapidly getting warmer with a dying friend. 

She cut her gaze to Danny. He hadn’t moved, but she noticed the bowl of the chair had pooled with ectoplasm. In an instant, she was shaking his shoulder.  

“Danny. Danny!” 

She needed the reassurance that he was going to be okay. This was recoverable. It sucked, but Tucker’s plan would make it better. She needed Danny to look at her and smile, even with blood-spattered teeth. She needed this to feel familiar and survivable.  

“Danny!” 

He peeled open his eyes to look at her. “Sham?” 

Danny slurred her name, but his eyes were focused, if tired.  

Sam placed a hand on either side of his face, and his took on a concerned visage. “You ochay?” 

“Yeah,” she sobbed. Slurring was okay, as long as he could focus. As long as he could be here with her. “I’m okay. You?” 

“No.” One of Danny’s teeth fell out. Or rather, dripped out. It stretched like honey from a spoon, the heavy drop turning green, until the whole thing splattered on Danny’s thigh. 

Sam whipped out her phone to text Tucker and Jazz, telling them to hurry, before refocusing on Danny. He stared at his liquefied tooth in horror, jumping when a second incisor joined his first. He slapped a hand over his mouth and stared, wide-eyed at Sam. 

Her phone buzzed, Jazz and Tucker talking about the car, and she told Tucker to break all the laws he could driving back to the school. 

Danny had ecto dripping through his fingers, as the rest of his teeth started to lose shape. Sam took his other hand, still wrapped around his stomach, and squeezed it tight. “Tucker’s on his way with ecto. You’ll take some, and you’ll get better. Just like Dani did, okay?” 

Her voice was high and fast. Danny blinked at her. Didn’t even try to speak. Sam tried not to think about how much Danny’s hand felt like a very wet washcloth. How if she looked down at their joined hands, she’d see green dripping over the seat to pool on the floor.  

Sometimes, in the more empowering of her nightmares, the reason Danny survived the accident was because Sam wished too hard for him to be alive. It was her that kept him alive and with her. Her faith. Her strength. Her love.  

But that was just wish fulfillment. The real reason Danny lived was luck, and it was running out.

Summary:

Loki resisted, but the Other was a master of his craft and the passage in the Void had battered Loki. Tattered hopes clung to the possibility of Thor finally following on a promise. He was coming for him. He was coming.

Loki found himself on Midgard, then back on Asgard, mind muddled, tongue heavy. And so he was left again on an hostile place, among people wishing his demise. Except that humans… are blindingly compassionate compared to Asgardian.

aka no one notice Loki isn’t all there during the invasion. Until they do.

Quando i tifosi del Napoli incontreranno Maradona a Napoli ( o allo stadio o da qualsiasi altra parte della cittá ) e lo vedranno come un “Calciatore Normale” ossia , non lo ” venereranno piú come ora ” … Allora , FORSE, si potrá dare a qualcuno il n. 10 del Napoli ma dato che la probabilita che questa cosa accada è 1 su 100000000000000000000000000 …. La maglia n.10 del Napoli non l' avrá nessuno.
