__________⚔  HER JAW TIGHTENS AS SHE LOOKS AT A SPOT ABOVE THE OTHER'S HEAD. not quite shrinking away, but not quite meeting the inquiring gaze either. she can already feel the bruise settling into her cheekbone, blooming towards her eye like a mottled flower. still, she shrugs her shoulders, bravado tinging every movement. but it is far too deliberate to be anything less than an act. what is the point in complaining when it will all happen again the next day ?? ❛  doesn't matter does it ?? i was too slow. in the arena, being too slow gets you killed. this'll remind me of that.  ❜

__________♕      LIFE ON TOUR IS BOTH EXHILARATING && TUMULTUOUS. their feature is still at the top of the charts, they're selling out venues && press are asking if the next collaboration will turn into a joint record. && despite it all, she wants more. more crowds, more shows, more everything. there won't be more if they can't keep their shit together they're the most talked about acts in the country, && the buzz is muddied with the stories of the parties, relationships, feuds. she is exhausted as she places yet another headliner down on the table between them. ❛   you know you don't have to try to make every front page, right ??   ❜

"Oh. Am I?" He asks in between ragged breaths. He's still a little out of it. Give him a minute to finish expelling all the shrapnel and he'll be right as rain, but fuck it hurts- He leans his head back with his eyes closed. He focuses on the metallic tinkling of the shards hitting the concrete floor. The worst part is always the nerves growing back. It felt like burning alive, but in reverse.

At least it was over quick this time.

"Shit, fine, stop givin' me that look." He says, shrugging off the wall and popping his claws. "I'll spot you a cleaning bill if ya' make it outta here. Now less whining, more shooting, yeah?"

'We can't keep meeting like this'. The quip dies before it ever makes it to his lips. It's not the time. He's got bigger fish to fry. So instead, he just sighs.

"Busy night?" He asks, leaning against the nearest wall as he rummages through his pockets for a cigar. He shelters the cherry in his cupped palm as it ignites, and shoves his hands into his pockets as he exhales a slow drag from the corner of his mouth.

"Looks like this one was a real douchebag."
