Islha: Combination of leafy and petal-y, smooth and soft to touch. Perennial.
Esthaeriel: Leafy, but pretty tough and weathered. Evergreen (everblue?)
Alaeteia: Woody, creaky, and strong. Evergreen.
Sayeuri: Leafy, flexible, smooth. Evergreen.
Raeysa: Leafy, but very tough. Deciduous.
Oriana: Woody, really stringy and tough. (Based on a manzanita). Evergreen.
Tiarnane: Petal-y, with an almost powdery-smooth texture. Perennial.

Liara: Leafy, fairly thick, soft leaves. Succulent.
Damara: Woody, fairly flexible. Deciduous.
Misrae: Woody, tough. Deciduous.
Aelidha: Leafy, perpetually warm. Evergreen.

Islha: Desert.
Esthaeriel: Swamp, snow, anything really wet.
Alaeteia: Cold. Anywhere cold.
Sayeuri: Desert.
Raeysa: Desert.

Tiarnane: Swamp, really muggy weather.
Daagni: Doesn’t care for cold.

Naayeia
History:
Dream
Naayeia’s dream was bright and gentle, a warm world of light and water, devoid of the pains that were increasingly common in the Dream as the Nightmare Courtiers did their damage. She floated through the days prior to her awakening like a child, full of wonder and delight at the birds and the butterflies, little rivers, flowers that looked towards the light of the Pale Tree like the real world’s sunflowers follow the sun.
Some might say she was lucky, to be spared the suffering of others. Maybe if she’d been able to stay within the Grove forever, that might have been the case. However, her Dream also left her shockingly unprepared for the outside world. Not only did she struggle to empathize with others, but she was too trusting, too unassuming.
Daelkeza
A sylvari a few years her senior fell in love with her one day while she was asleep by a stream, alone in Caledon Forest. She’d slept by streams in her Dream; it never occurred to her that it might not be safe to do so outside. Daelkeza was more or less her polar opposite, a dark dreamer, who’d come out scarred by experiences of torture that were not her own, yet had haunted her Dream. She knew how to maim, how to break, how to leave marks, how to hide them.
Dae was immediately protective of the ethereal little creature who slept so soundly and without fear of the world around her. She stood guard over her, and when Nae woke she impressed upon her the necessity of being aware of her surroundings. While she tried to teach the younger sylvari to be safe, she was reluctant to share the darkness she knew with her. She didn’t want Nae’s light shadowed by fear and sadness.
The two became close friends as Dae made herself Nae’s bodyguard, and Nae followed Dae like a puppy follows an older dog. Nae was naturally curious, intrigued by what Dae was hiding from her, and she never ceased to hound her for the truth. From Dae she began to learn of sadness, and she became better able to care about others, but the more she grew to care about Dae, the more she wanted to know.
Nightmare
Things eventually came to a head between the two when Nae rather rudely attempted to look into Dae’s mind using her mesmer magic. Though she meant well, Dae was horrified and afraid that Nae would be ruined by what she knew. She left the Grove, hoping to protect her in this way.
Instead, Nae attempted to follow after her and was quickly lost in Caledon. The Nightmare found her first, and her turning was horribly quick. She was simply not prepared in any way for the brutal torture the Nightmare Court was capable of, she was frightened, she didn’t know what to do with this terrifying new world that had just opened before her.
Dark Hunt
Nae’s Dark Hunt was more or less tailor-made for her. Dae, with her unwanted expertise in hunting and killing and hurting, was a valuable target the Nightmare had wanted for ages, and upon finding that the two were close, maybe even lovers, it was natural that the Nightmare would seek to drive Nae to capture her former protector.
Persona:
Nae carries herself with the unsteady pride of a child putting on airs, a bumbling sort of inelegance that is charming in one so bright and unassuming. She giggles often, makes friends easily, and is unquenchably curious. At first glance she seems almost too good to be true.
The flip side of the coin has always been there, however. Nightmare did not create it, only accentuated it. Nae can be incredibly clingy, petulant, stubborn, and childish. If she feels she has been wronged she is spiteful, quick to wound in return.
Concept notes:
Nae is a Lady of the Nightmare Court, a sad conquest whose innocence was not so much stripped away as weaponized with her fall. She is childlike in both manner and thought, with a stubbornness and an all-or-nothing way of thinking that most would have grown out of by now. Children, however, are cruel, and Nae’s guileless seeming is a trap cunningly laid by the courtiers who broke and rewove her.
