Quitting V Resigning
Today at NAC 2015 marked the 2 year anniversary for the day I was reborn. This day 2 years ago.... I started a new life. When I attended NAC 2013 I was working in real estate and had a very well established Real Estate career doing exactly what I loved and getting paid extraordinarily well. Little did I know how much my desires, fulfilment levels and happiness would change going back to work after that event. It took a total of 2 months before I could no longer deny that real estate was no longer my calling, my passion, or what truly made me happy. So I quit... Now contemplating on these 2 words, "I quit" when I tell the story 2 years later... I realise that quit doesn't define that situation or decision as well as I would like it to. I realise that the word quit implies I left work unfinished, too early, pre-mature or that I was running away... But the truth was I resigned. Rather, I was choosing happiness, a new beginning, a new challenge, deeper fulfilment and happiness. I chose trusting my gut that I couldn't really couldn't logically comprehend or justify other than saying "it doesn't feel right anymore" and "I feel like I'm dying inside".... I didn't leave at the wrong time... I left exactly at the RIGHT time... I didn't quit my job. I resigned from a life that no longer served me. Instead, I chose a life of pursuing and living my dreams and passions. Of going after things bigger than just me and my clients... I took my first step, in truly... Truly... following my heart... Sometimes it's ok to realise the goals we once had aren't our goals anymore. One of the worst things we can do, is to continue heading towards the old goal that's no longer there. You end up wasting your time, energy and most importantly it'll start to eat away at your level of happiness and your soul... Why are you heading towards your goals? Do these reasons still fulfil you? Extract from Nina's upcoming book
