Not per se! The only toe-dip I got in creative writing was REALLY focused on ‘magical realism’ making the mundane spectacular and I HATED IT. I think that the way you go about writing works just fine for me as a reader and many others.

no offense but i almost exclusively write magic shit and it’s not about making the mundane spectacular, it’s about making the spectacular mundane, and that’s a very different thing imo. /boggles
