bro, i desperately need people to learn that romance is an actual, literal genre of fiction. if you do not like a complete focus on romance and only like romantic plotlines incorporated into various other plots - you do not like the romance genre and you are not interested in romance fiction. simple as that. and it's fine if you don't like it, but pretending like the entire genre doesn't exist and is actually all badly written fiction of other genres which is overly focused on romance is asinine. yet somehow continues being a sentiment i see all the time. romance fiction is not lacking in plot or over-concerned with romantic relationships - it's literally doing what it was designed to do: centers mostly or even exclusively around romance.
given the current climate this pride especially i feel i must mention that i love my trans friends, i stand with trans people in the fight against transphobic legislation and those who would enforce it, and this blog is not a good place for you to be if you do not vibe with that
social media needs a button distinct from block or mute that is just a sims -- you can hit when someone adds something unnecessary, nebbish or just kind of annoying to your post that doesn't quite rise to the point of being antagonistic. only they can see it. the "I didn't appreciate that" button.
"oh patagonia HAS to sue they don't have a choice they have to" was bullshit even before I was aware of the jansport jan sport collab because like, do you think mattel has sued trixie who is by far a bigger name making a shit ton more money. have you heard of trixie mattel getting sued because she's too close to the mattel name, which is way truer for her than for pattie gonia. people assuming that because rpdr made brita and jan censor their names that's what they go by now. the real answer is that pattie has been getting attention specifically for being anti trump and patagonia (a brand for rich yuppies who shop at whole foods and live in gated communities) got nervous about it
Patagonia is posting notes app social media half-added apologies over their lawsuit 😭😭😭
i mean. i’ll always side with the human over the company anyway. but these are markedly different
guys, she can keep performing, she just has to cow to the brand and give up her identity and redesign all her shit despite the fact that they’re both named after a geographical region! the brand simply MUST have first dibs and then the human can live her little life or whatever!! why are you guys so excited to suck corporate boot? am i going fucking crazy? again?
As a society, we need to go back to understanding that strangers on the internet are, you know, strangers. I feel lately that I'm seeing a rise in 'An author I love blocked me because they took my comment the wrong way' posts on the ao3 subreddit, and then the comment is them calling the author a fucking bitch or something like that.
Don't do this. Tone doesn't translate well in text, and if you don't have a rapport with that author, they are not going to interpret, 'You're a fucking bitch' as, 'Author I hate you for being so talented and making me feel so keenly.' They're going to interpret it as you being an asshole. You can shit talk with your friends because you have an established relationship with them and can distinguish between playful banter and genuine anger. You do not have this with a stranger, no matter how much you like their fics. You will have a much more pleasant time in fandom and not get cockblocked from interacting with your favorite writers if you remember this.
#I don't often see comments like these when I'm reading a fic but there have been a few that made me raise an eyebrow#I don't know if I would block over someone calling me a bitch on a fic I wrote but I'd probs try to gently tell them it's not right#coz honestly I feel like this is an issue with younger age groups who are new to reading fics and might not understand fandom culture#or at least I hope it's younger people who simply don't know better 😬#otherwise... yikes
This isn't some esoteric niche aspect of fandom culture, strangers at the potluck also do not like being called a fucking bitch.
you guys do realise walking doesn't actually move you anywhere right? it just destroys you entirely and places a perfect copy of you right in front of where you were standing
frankly I wish I was surprised by people going to bat for multi billion dollar yuppie outdoors corpos over an environmentalist drag queen, but as far as "tumblr users attempting to deep throat the boot stomping on them," it's not even in the top 5. like I've seen people here argue that the person who burned down that paper warehouse should Face Consequences because think of all the people who can't work now. people going to bat for disney and universal because they've decided that being anti ai means being pro corporations being horrendous about ip. people arguing against piracy. people arguing against libraries. like at this point you gotta accept that people here are socialist in name only and actually deeply subscribe to capitalism as long as it aligns with their personal moral code
oh so some people can just listen to a song and understand the lyrics
what if you’re all lying
not even an exaggeration
“be gay do crime! but sex is yucky and crime is wrong!” ass website
i appreciate this, but in a world where your gay brothers and sisters are being actively punished if not outright killed for having sex—in a fascist society that is trying to make gay sex a crime and has successfully done so in the past, in ways that still harm us today—we have GOT to be there for gay sex and the people having it. it doesn’t make you any less gay not to have sex, but that’s not something bigots are going to take into account, and if they do, it only stands to make you “one of the good ones” and pit you against your siblings and loved ones. whether someone personally wants sex or not, i think we have a responsibility to defend the people who do just as much as the people who don’t.
um so quick question you do know that the world isn’t divided into People Blindly Accepting Of Gender Roles and Smart Trans Ppl. the world isn’t divided into People In Romantic Relationships and Single Aros. the world isn’t divided into People Who Socialize Easily and Oppressed Autistics. the world isn’t divided into Enlightened Queer People and Stupid Misogynists. like you are aware of this ? i hope you are aware of this
we brought your gay little boyfriend back from the dead. happy pride ig
inappropriate use of office equipment.
i hateeee the framing of any type of media engagement that relies on juxtaposing fun, enjoyable, 'low' art (usually [m/m] fanfiction, romance novels, genre fiction, &c.) with difficult, fufilling 'high' art (usually classics, arthouse films, &c) as like. 'fast food vs. vegetables', 'entertainment' vs 'personal (moral?) development' not the least because these aren't remotely discrete categories but also because its annoyingggg
people used to love to do this in fandom with femslash specifically and i hated it then also. do you have any idea how demeaning it is to have to hear people framing the act of reading stories about people like you as eating vegetables. as atonement for the sin of wanting to read about men fucking. come on now
hey can everyone do me a favor and put in the tags why they chose their name? even if you don't go by a chosen name irl, you can put why you chose your online name.
Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
