Help. I haven't heard about SW for a long time, but one look at skysolo is enough to bring me back
THE WAY MY BRAIN GOES "OH YEAH, WE NEEDED JUST THIS"
I guess I can't escape them, huh (not that I mind)
I AM ALWAYS HAPPY TO PROVIDE 🥰🥰🥰🥰
And you are correct we NEEEDED this.👹
Who would cook in skysolo and landoleia? Like, who wouldn't burn the kitchen down?
YUPIIEEE MY FAVOURITE TYPE OF ASK :D
SKYSOLO/LANDOLEIA KITCHEN HEADCANONS
That's a VERY interesting question.
Because I feel that by themselves each and every one of them is a decent cook. Some more than the other. Okay, here it is
Han: Does not like cooking, but was forced to do it if he wanted to eat anything besides army ration packs in his smiggler days, since he didn't always have money for cantinas. Can cook simple dishes, nothing too fancy, but always packed with nutrients, and surprisingly balanced. HOWEVER, if you leave him alone with kids, he WILL leave one of them responsible for 'watching the onions', and the kitchen WILL burn. Have you seen how many times the Falcon burned under him? Yeah.
Luke: Of course cooking was one of the chores he did on the farm. Rarely, mostly when aunt Beru was away, or not feeling well, but he always had an interest in cooking, and was the one to ask his aunt to teach him some basics. In the married life he is the one too make a big delicious pot of soup with self-grown veggies for his students, and it brings him joy to do, even if he messes up sometimes.
Leia: There was never a need for her to learn cooking, and she never really saw the need, preffering to spend her time sneaking out, or sticking to her father like glue. After the destruction of Alderaan she always had rations and communal kitchens until the end of the war, and it was then where she realised she would maybe like to learn. So her mother WHO IS ALIVE AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR NOTHING teaches her the favourites of her childood, chukling that it will not taste the same, since the ingridients are not from Alderaan. Leia can be very stern though, so she is better at baking, lacking the kicked back attitude and improvisation needed for cooking.
Lando: NOW THIS MAN- This man is a 5 Michelin star chef when he's in the kitchen. As it is with Han, he first learned to cook out of pure necessity, the difference is, he is a gastronome, he has tried all the most poche vines and all the moat prenecious restaurants, and he LOVES showing off with his cooking. He's the type of man to take his date to the Could City kitchen so he can cook for them himself, instead of relying on the personal chefs. So after Leia falls into her senator place, especially after having the baby, Lando transforms into a stay at home husband, cooking for her every day.
So, to sum up: Luke cooks for the Skywalker-Solo family, while Lando cooks for the Organa-Calrissian family, but both Han and Leia contribute too.
ANYWAYS
REMEMBER TO STAY HYDRATED KIDS ‼️☝️
Sooo...
What was that about the tent scene?
oh boy, here we go....
WATCH THE ACTUAL SCENE HERE FIRST (stupid tumblr and its video policies.....)
AND IMMIDIATELY WE BEGIN WITH LUKE MOANING HAN'S NAME THAT I HAVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO USE FOR NEFARIOUS PURPOSES.
But on a more serious note, there is something so deeply symbolic that the radio dramas have decided to write in the seemingly little "I can't see." for Luke as he is getting saved by Han. As if their stories did not mirror each other enough, here we have the drive home, which also brings forward a magnificent parallel of them recognizing each other's voices even while blinded, as well an amazing metaphor of each one being the 'guiding light' for the other, a guardian angel that comes to the rescue even when the world turns dark.
And speaking of guiding light. Here is a little extract from a few minutes earlier, of Han finding Luke:
Luke is calling out Han's name, but did you notice the "Han, so it would be you." later in the tent? meaning in THIS moment he is delirious, and doesn't register what is happening. HE IS JUST CALLING OUT HAN'S NAME WHILE ON THE VERGE OF DEATH, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT'S FLASHING BEFORE HIS EYES, I WILL RUN MYSELF INTO THE WALL-
And oh, how desperate Han is. OH HOW DESPERATE—
"Don't go to sleep on me.. Don't do this to me Luke, come on, give me a sign here!"
HOW YOU HEAR HIS VOICE SHIFT. HOW HE GOES FROM DEMANDING TO PLEADING. I AM ON THE POINT OF CLINICAL INSANITY—
Khm, back to the original plot of the movement.
The little "There is not much room in here" must be agnowleged fully in order to understand that throughout this entire exchange they are essentially pressed into each other in a crammed space (the writers seem to really love doing that since the anh floor compartments). This, coupled with "Keep the thermal wrap around you", it's not hard to imagine Han hugging Luke to himself for warmth, speaking to him quiet words of encouragement and gentle jokes through heavy breaths. And people will tell you they were just friends.
"How are you feeling?" Han has never ever sounded softer. I am forever in gratitude to Perry King for how he portrays Han in the radio dramas, because while he keeps the cocky attitude of Harrison he sounds deeply worried, close to tears, and incredibly intimate and soft when he needs to, and specifically for moment like these he should get a medal.
I just love their playful remarks to each other in general, but specifically the fact that Han answers to Luke initiating, and while Luke's voice is sarcastic and frustrated, Han tries to gently give him a genuine smile, being the one to keep the morale up this time, so to say, which is a switch in their dynamic that is so refreshing and so influential, that I have adopted this attitude of theirs to a substantial number of my fanfics.
"No more talking like that!" Oh how I love this moment, because not only is this Han tugging Luke out of his spiraling, something we saw even in A New Hope, after the death of Ben, but there is something in his voice, this little sinking tone that makes me think he is also saying that to himself in a way. Because he doesn't even want to think about losing Luke, even if rationally he knows that the possibility of it has never been closer.
(a sobbing break for how Han whispers "you" through a chuckle)
"Well, I guess you can cancel all my social engagements for the evening." with the intention of spending said evening in Han's arms, so command the consequences, this is Victorian lady level flirting, scandalous, promiscuous if you will.
AND NOW WE TAKE A BREATHER BEFORE THE NUCLEAR BOMB
"So what's your excuse this time, huh?"
"Huh? For what?"
"Coming out after me. I guess you can't claim it was on money this time."
"Well.. I'll figure something out, Luke."
"I bet you will."
With the whispered, panting voices, with that little gruff in Han's, with Luke's getting quieter, as if he is leaning closer and closer to Han's face...
Find me an explanation to this that does not involve homosexual tendencies and the deepest of attraction. Convince me they are just friends. Show this to a person without context and ask them whether the characters are written as lovers. Find me a scene so deeply personal while also being sexually charged.
THIS changed me as a person. THIS broke me. THIS is why I am a skysolo scholar with honours. THIS is the end of me.
(honestly, guys, I want to just do an animatic of this goddamn scene, because it is SO insanely vital to the formation of my brain chemistry...)
VALENTINE'S DAY HEADCANONS PART 2
Lando × Leia
Now those two are the ones to go ALL IN for the dates. Okay, okay, mostly Lando. But you just know he is aware of how lucky he got with Leia and he is not taking his chances with letting her go.
Forget the custom robes made one day after her arrival at Cloud City, there will be a new ballgown made from the finest Sleedaran silk waiting for her along with a love letter, written by hand, that starts with "To the white lily, of the valley that lies across my heart", and continues in the similar high-end fashion until Leia huffs with a big smile, and skims through it to get to the point. Unfortunately, the Festival of Love is one day where Lando knows she is required to give him more than a rare free minute of notice, so the letter is only a piece of an elaborate scavinger hunt that leads her through all the memorable places in Cloud City. Not for too long, though. Because Lando can't stand a thought of not showering her with his full and undivided attention.
He meets her at the balcony and takes her hand in his, pressing a kiss to her knuckles, holding her gaze with his, long, passionate, so unlike the playful flirtiness of first ever one, filled instead with blazing yearning that seeps through Leia's skin and makes a shiver run down her spine and the tips of her ears heat up.
It's everything anyone could wish for. A visit to the opera, a walk down the shopping lane, bying anything Leia's eye even lands on, a private dinner prapared by the best chefs of Bespin, held ceremoniously in the very dining room that nearly put a stop to their blooming love once.
And Lando is charming, and Lando is gallant, and Lando's shirt and cape matches her gown. And he brings her a bouquet he made himself, and he moves her chair out for her, and he carries all the books she had bought, and his words are smooth and lovely, but Leia cares little for all of it.
Leia cares about him letting an older couple take their seats at the opera. About him excusing himself on the shopping street to help a kid climb up the tree to get his kite, and safely get down. About the agnowlegements he whispers to every cook and waiter when he thinks she isn't looking. About him offering her more comfortable shoes, giving her his cape, asking how Luke is doing.
Leia loves him for the care he takes in others, not a show he's putting on for her. And what she's most looking forward to is simply being alone with him in their room.

VALENTINES DAY HEADCANONS PART 1
Han × Luke
Neither of them are ones to go on big pompus dates. Their wedding was so simple that they both wore Han's clothes and half their guests weren't even aware they were at a wedding until years later. For them, going on a mission together is a date enough. One or two stolen touches, a couple of flirty comments, and they are happy enough until they are in their room alone to get the pent-up love out full scale. Sleeping in each other's company or otherwise engaged depends on the day.
Their love language is definitely quality time (which is such a shame since the canon keeps taking that away from them). They love reassembling the Falcon together while sharing occasional stories. They love training together, sweaty, smiling, teasing each other. They don't need a fancy date. They just have each other.
That changes when they get kids, though.
Luke wakes up on the Festival of Love day, extremely surprised to find an empty bed next to him, and starts to get worried, because the only times Han wakes up earlier than him are for trips or when something is wrong. And there are no trips planned for that day.
But then he hears giggling from under the door, and there is whipering, and shuffling, and a piece of paper that's a little crinkled gets shoved under the door, before an unidentified number of feet stumble down the hallway. Luke smiles, gets out of bed, and picks up a pink glittery card that contains a dinner invitation from a 'secret admirer'. He walks around the temple with a smile, eating his breakfast, collecting everyone for their training, noticing smiles and whispers, and a couple of annoyed faces around aswell. He tries to find Han to ask him about these shenanigans, but surprisingly, Han does seem away on an unexpected trip.
When Luke tries to walk into the kitchen after lunch, he immediately gets shoved out by three little guards, telling him there is a secret mision going on, and he is banned from the kitchen. But Luke can swear he hears Han's annoyed grumble over the whistle of a boiling pot.
When his eyes are getting tied with a blindfold, Luke doesn't try to say he can see through the force either way, but obidiently pretends to stumble over while being led through the forest. To a presence he knows so well, the one that he had been missing all day.
He takes the blindfold off himself, knowing they are now left alone, to reveal shimmering lights wrapped around the trees and a table, with two plates of an attempt at a fancy meal in the middle. And softly smiling Han that is clearly trying to hide his akwarness under a mask of warm annoyance.
"They were very insistent." he huffs, waving his hand around, and Luke couldn't be more happy that they were.
part 2 (landoleia) is up!!
