Rating Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo
I have watched our country make giant strides in bringing leaders who want to occupy public office to open platforms for them to be asked questions on key areas of governance with their policies, we still can do far better.
Watching Nana Addo, I think he did well, my score sheets gives the flagbearer of the New patriotic Party 60%. The man has always carried himself as a president, which many see as some sort of arrogance or whatever negative connotations his personality brings to the average person.
It is more of Nana's body language for many people, answering to questions, I think many of his first lines, after been asked questions was, "you and I know"
which I think was a start to someone who did not have full grasp of the questions, he seemed to be going round most of the answers, a gentleman asked him to be specific, give three solutions on how he was to stop corruption, which he still went round it but miraculously found an answer in the maze.
The first question by a little girl, again, was Nana Akuffo Addo’s inability to remember what the girl asked, and even worse I think his body language in the admittance of not remembering made him look rather unaware of the platform he was on.
I also seemed to have observed that the men in his party were not so charmed by his performance, the body language in watching the man who stood on the platform was that of an OK act.
I heard Nana was told to sit for the Q and A which I hear he objected to, but rto ather stand, maybe to show he was fit, which was equally needless. He wanted to make the point that he was fit or very healthy to sway the politics of his health. Knowing the politics which led to the demise of our late president I think it was petty to fall into that trap. No need to prove any point on health.
Maybe we all can live above such precedence, I do not want my President descend into that, be it NDC or NPP.
What I have observed with Nana over the few years is his inability to keep up with figures, I strongly think he not been a technocrat, it is only normal he can't hold a lot of these, but really knowing his slot to be a president, depends largely on the 8 years of the Kufuor Government, It was of importance he took a little time, come to terms with basic economics of our last 8 years in comparison to the NDC's 3 years, than to generally say "we increased it by threefold to four fold" that was an overly simplistic way of telling intelligent minds he can manage our nation, knowing the book Arthur Kennedy wrote was Chasing the elephant into the bush.
