beverly thoughts expect i'm actually writing fic and not just rambling
Someone decides that they should live in Hillhome. Someone packs Beverly’s things, ruins the organization system he’s perfected over his travels. Someone tells Hardwon and Moonshine, who take him for one last party and sneak Crick water and spell scrolls into his bag. Someone arranges transportation and then they arrive in a town that is no more than grassy hills. His mother’s childhood home is old and dusty. It’s below ground properly, with slanted walls and small windows in only half the rooms. He remembers it from summer visits and half-expects to be told to pack up, it’s time to go home now. Beverly goes to school; he and Erlin and Egwene are the only ones from Galaderon. The other kids watch them like zoo animals, comment on their city manners, whisper about the classmates they lost to the Feywild. He attends Green Teens, begrudgingly, until the day he asks the scout leader if there’s a badge for killing a god and suddenly his mom decides that he can choose not to go. Erlin talks about the future a lot. He talks about Green Knights and the cleric college in Gladeholm and seminary, choices spread out like note cards on a table. Bev talks mostly about the Crick. He talks about the food he misses and how maybe he can visit sometime soon until he’s out of breath and Erlin asks if he even thinks about anything else. (He does, he thinks about his dad and all the other people he’s killed, he thinks about Melora and the Dusk Mother and tuna sandwiches.)
