why i feel like bryke parting ways with netflix is a good thing.....

i honestly can’t say i’m even the least bit sad about bryke parting ways with netflix....i usually just stick to making gifs/reblogging & don’t ever rlly post my opinion on stuff but i felt like i rlly needed to just share what i know based on the reactions i’ve been seeing today. for those who haven’t been in the fandom that long (before my blog got deleted & i had to remake last year, i’ve been here on & off since 2010, yes that long lmao), there has been tumblr drama before with ppl involved in atla being problematic, like for example grey delisle (voice of azula) & even sifu kisu (who choreographed the bending styles in atla) & a lot of other stuff that's happened, but never to the extent of the bryke problems, who have been trash since basically the beginning. just the tip of the iceberg is this absolutely disgusting video they made back in 2008 for comic con, basically shitting on a bunch of 12-16 year olds (which was the main fanbase back then, myself included). i mean not only was the fanart used very inappropriate to share among minors (esp them being in their 30s back then), but as the creators of the show, it just blows my mind how they ever thought it remotely ok to make that in the first place. they defended it saying it was a “joke”, but idk about everyone else, but i certainly didn’t find it funny. & this is def not about ships, as much as some ppl like to make it out to be. they’ve always been sexist & cultural appropriators, & just bc they created your favorite thing ever, does not exempt them of that. also, i just want to note that a work of fiction can include POC & still wind up being racist. my point is that, nothing is ever perfect, but i don’t think we are losing anything by getting a fresh team at netflix to give the ATLA live action a go, esp since it’s a LIVE ACTION & (besides the concept) the only thing bryke were good for was the animation....we def can’t say it’s their writing. what we can say is that netflix does have very talented writers, just look at most of their original content. they def already know how disliked in general the movie is, & how unacceptable the whitewashing was, so i don’t think that will be a problem.....some of the best additions to the ATLAverse have been purely fanmade stuff, so why don’t we look at it like that? i for one, am still excited to see what happens, & to at least have something new & atla related to look forward to :)

i kinda envy everyone watching atla for the first time on netflix right now, as clichéd as it sounds, it’s def the one thing that i wish i could erase from my memory just to be able to enjoy it for the first time all over again :)

i was very much not going to address this at all, since i already got an answer from the only person whose opinion matters in this, but i am sooo done with 'mike' or whatever the hell his real name is, so no need to be on anon since i know this is very obviously you @captainpoe , thanks to the repeated mssgs you've sent (not only me, but also friends of mine who u repeatedly harass via chat, even for things unrelated to this) so idk what ur problem is dude but LEAVE ME ALONE. you are an absolute nuisance. like something is actually wrong with you. i've ignored the mssgs you've sent even off anon (even the one that didn't have anything to do with this) so idk what doesn't click about me not wanting to interact with u, i don't follow u, never have never will, or even so much as liked a post from u, but ur a full ass grown 27 year old adult, so get a life maybe?? & stop starting shit with ppl on this dumb website that is supposed to be used for fun/relaxation & blogging about stuff u like, not creating drama with different strangers every other day. also, i find it HILARIOUS that u, especially, have the audacity to try to threaten & bully ppl into doing what u want, when like just a few weeks ago u were having to publicly apologize for using the death of naya rivera to get notes, so...who is the real problem here?? def you! i. don't. care. about. notes. but you obvi do, way too much! i'd never even heard of you until you decided to take it upon urself to police the avatar fandom (& ur not so subtle call out post that u have pinned on ur blog, which btw YOU don't have the right to decide what should/shouldn't be taken down, & that fact that ur so bent out of shape about something that isn't even urs & that the actual creator has already said he doesn't mind....u have problems dude. what he actually does mind is u threatening ppl!), & just a quick search pulls up receipts of ppl across various fandoms being absolutely done with your shit:

so i would honestly worry a lot more about the crap you post on ur own blog/have going on in ur own life, than keep trying to dictate what the rest of tumblr does. it's one thing to advocate for the removal of posts containing racism, trans/homophobia (which u yourself have posted!), cp, etc. but this is something else entirely. oh, & u seriously need to stop spam mssging ppl, everyone is ignoring u for a reason, ur ass is def getting reported, so pls don’t ever contact me again & hopefully get a new hobby :)

i feel like a lot of atla fans are also into miraculous ladybug, & even tho i have absolutely no idea what it’s about, i always thought it looked like a legit kid’s show? but is it actually good & should i start watching? hmm 🤔
