Title: It’s Always You Pairing: Solavellan – Modern AuVerse: Figures and FrescosRating: PG – Hot and Heavy Angst
I meandered through the statue room, trailing my fingers lazily over the red ropes that surrounded my favorite pieces. I hadn’t been eating or sleeping well, only lending to the empty ache that filled my chest. I had been trying to reacquaint myself with being alone most of the time, but it was honestly trying my sanity. A bust I hadn’t seen before caught my eye, a blooming heat rose in my face– I came to a stop before it, supposing it dated from Ancient Arlathan. The sharply angled face of an elf, hair plaited into a faux-hawk and a fierce, yet somehow mournful gaze stared back at me. I read the tag.
“Fen’Harel. How appropriate.”
FENDEHIS, are you kidding me?!
The sound dress shoes clicked on the marble behind me, but I didn’t need to turn around to recognize that pace, that voice.
“Why is it always you?” I growled over my shoulder. I’d rather talk to the statue.
“I have a penchant for the hatred of a certain museum employee,” His breath hot on the back of my neck, “I’m a masochist, it seems.”
Nnnnggghhh…. Whyyy is he always able to make my knees weak?
Brushing his lips across my throat, a trail of gooseflesh raising under the almost-touch. He hadn’t been bold enough to touch me since I agreed to start speaking to him again—not that I hadn’t wanted him to, but I hadn’t been about to say so. Despite myself, a keening whimper slipped from my lips.
“Mmn,” Not a chuckle like I expected, but a breathy purr of, was that gratitude?
“Fen—”
I turned into him, finding more vulnerability in his face than I think I’d ever seen. His sea-storm eyes, intense as ever, highlighted by the almost bruise-like crescents beneath. He had combed out his trademark dreadlocks; his silky dark auburn hair now pulled back in a low, loose plait. He looked like a ghost of himself, but there was only faint mint on his breath, and his pupils dilated when meeting my gaze. Thank the Creators: he was sober. A small, hopeful smile parted his lips, curling just slightly at the corners.
Oh.
I don’t know if he kissed me or I him, but I know when his mouth moved against mine I forgot anything else existed. Urgent, hungry kisses and his hands tangling in the hair at the base of my neck, he walked me backward carefully into the shadow of an alcove. Just out of sight of the cameras, I guessed. My body arched into him, head back to rest against the hand that held my neck. He breathed into me and my head swam. Only one thought was coherent enough to fall from my lips as he redirected his attention to my neck.
“It’s always you—“
