Man I really wish I could draw because I really want to make a NaguTouko ask blog now
Choi Chang Soo: So, how did you meet Nagumo?
Touko: Oh, funny story, he was trying to take over the world and I was part of the resistance
Choi Chang Soo: ...I see...
Touko: Is something burning?
Nagumo: *leaning on counter* Just my burning desire for you.
Touko: Haruya the toaster is on fire-
It Began With A Meeting
“Endou Mamoru. Position, Goalkeeper. He doesn’t look like much, but be especially wary of him. He’s the source of Raimon’s strength. He’s possibly the most dangerous member of the humans’ team.”
“As was mentioned in the last two meetings...” Burn grumbled under his breath.
A sharp pain in his side told him someone had jabbed him with their elbow. He turned to glare at the attacker, who was unfazed.
“Pay attention, Burn. You know we have to attend these briefings whenever anything changes,” Gazel lectured him.
Burn rolled his eyes. “I just don’t see why we have to do this every time those idiots get a new member...”
“I hear their new members are interesting, though,” he heard Gran say from his other side.
Burn sighed. “Whatever. All we have to do is crush them.”
He moved his head off of the table begrudgingly and watched the picture on the screen change from Kidou’s face to one he’d never seen before. It was a kid with spiky blue hair and yellow eyes.
“Kogure Yuuya. Position, Defender. He’s a new member. He was able to stop a hissatsu from Epsilon, but as he is the newest member, his skills are unknown.”
“If his skills are so unknown, why didn’t they wait to hold this stupid meeting until AFTER they’d figured him out?” Burn grumbled.
This time it was Gran who nudged him. “Pay attention. The next member is important.”
“How do you know? Have you already seen this, huh?”
“Just shush.”
Eager to hurry up and get to the end, Burn sat back in his chair and tried his best to focus. Not that he wanted to. He could be doing so many other things right now. Who on earth was so important that they deserved to eat up his precious time?
It took him a few seconds to register the face that came on the screen next. It was a girl; the first girl on Raimon’s team that he’d seen. The pink hair that wasn’t contained under her cap poofed out at her shoulders, and her silver eyes were big and round. In the picture they’d obtained, she was smiling, and her white teeth contrasted her tan skin. He found his eyes glued to her.
“Zaizen Touko. Position, Midfielder. Exercise extreme caution around this individual, as she is the Prime Minister’s daughter. If any harm were to come to her, the president might not uphold the end of his deal. She herself is also skilled in soccer...”
Burn had tuned out the descriptions of everyone else, but he focused intently on hers. She was the Prime Minister’s daughter? She sure didn’t LOOK the part; not at all. She looked like some tomboy that you might find anywhere.
“Zaizen Touko, huh...?” he mumbled.
He heard Gran chuckle next to him. “Oho, are you interested, Burn? That’s rare.”
He whipped around to glare at him. “Shut up; I am not!”
“Then how come you were staring for so long? I thought you didn’t care at all about what the new members were like.” Gran asked with a teasing smirk on his face.
Burn started to feel his face heating up, and thanked his lucky stars that the lights in the room were off. “She’s the Prime Minister’s daughter, idiot. Even I think that’s notable.”
“Yes, I’m SURE that’s what you were thinking.”
Knowing he wasn’t going to win, Burn stood up quickly enough that his chair almost fell over behind him and stomped out of the room. Stupid Gran. He was such a jerk. How DARE he talk to him like that?! HE was the one who was so interested in those stupid humans more than anyone else, anyway. Him and his stupid fascination with that Endou kid. Burn just knew that was where he was going whenever he snuck out. And now he was trying to make it sound like HE, Burn, the captain of Prominence, was interested in one of those idiots?! It made his blood boil.
Although...
...She actually was kinda pretty.

There she was. Zaizen Touko. Standing in front of him. It was the middle of the night. The only light came from a dim lamp post nearby. They were alone. Burn couldn't figure out what to say. Any excuses he tried to form simply didn't come into his blank mind. And she stood across from him looking a mixture of angry, hurt, and sad.
"You...you're one of THEM."
How did he get here? Why did she have to see him sneaking away? Why did she have to overhear his conversation?
"You've always been one of them."
Why did she have to find out? Why did it have to be HER?
"You...you lied."
Yes, but-
"You snuck in right under our noses, and you've been feeding them information, and-"
Yes...but...
"Nagumo...how could you do this? I thought...I thought I knew you."
But she did.
"All of it...was EVERYTHING a lie?"
No, not everything-
"Who even are you? Are you Nagumo? Are you Burn? Who are you?!"
Honestly...he was having a hard time figuring that one out.
"It was all a lie..."
He tried so hard. He tried so hard to say something to her. To come up with an excuse. To deny what she was saying. To tell her that some part of him really was still Nagumo Haruya and not Burn, that not ALL of it was a lie, that he'd slowly been growing more conflicted about what he was doing, that he wanted to tell her the truth so many times but each time he was too much of a coward, that there was always a part of him that didn't WANT to be doing what he was-
But as he watched her eyes slowly fill before spilling over in tears, he found himself unable to say anything in his defense. What good would it do?
"I'm sorry..."
"You're sorry? You're SORRY?!"
He flinched, his voice cracking. "Touko..."
"Everything was a lie. I thought you were our friend. But you never were! You've always been one of those horrible, evil ALIENS!"
She spat out the last word, turning on her heels and sprinting in the other direction. Away from him. Burn watched her go, his heart aching. He didn't stop her, though. He couldn't.
She was right, after all.
Nagumo: Haha, Suzuno just tripped! *laughs*
Touko: *glares*
Nagumo: W-What?
Touko: That’s not nice.
Nagumo: W-Wait, I’m sorry, please don’t be mad at me-
Touko: *turns away*
Nagumo: Nooo, Touko... ;n;

Nagumo was unfamiliar with the concept of a nice party. Now that he was attending one, he didn't really like them all that much. His suit was uncomfortable, everyone around him was too uptight, the room was too big, the food was too fancy, everything was too fancy-and most importantly, he didn't belong. None of them belonged. Not after what they did.
Endou seemed to think that they belonged, though, so once he figured out that the Prime Minister was going to be holding a party in honor of the defeat of the "aliens," the fool practically begged him to let all of the members of the former Aliea Academy attend. No, wait, he probably actually begged. Nagumo couldn't figure out why he had agreed.
Even now, he could feel the hostility some people in the room felt toward him. People fell silent when he walked by. Groups gave him suspicious eyes and talked in hushed whispers. He swore that some people even glared at him. In the end, he decided to station himself by the wall instead of awkwardly standing alone in the middle of the room, where the partygoers' animosity couldn't reach him as easily. Stupid jerks. Acting like they were all high and mighty, and that Aliea were a bunch of insects. They had no idea what they'd been though-what he'd been through. He really regretted coming to this stupid thing.
"So tell me. Why do you look so angry?"
Nagumo turned his glare from his empty punch cup to whoever had barged in on his sulking. His throat went dry when he saw who he was glaring at, though.
"Zaizen?" he replied, gawking slightly. Why was she talking to him, of all people?
She stood before him, a playful smile on her face. Wearing an elegant dress, her fluffy hair pinned up, makeup covering her face. It didn't suit her at all, he thought. "How many times do I have to tell you to call me Touko?"
"You've only told me that, like, twice," he deadpanned.
"Still more than once."
She was right, he grudgingly admitted. "What are you doing hanging out at the wall of shame?"
She laughed. "Well...I never do well with these sorts of things." She gestured to the party going on in front of them. "They're too fancy."
"I can understand that," he grumbled, glaring at Hiroto, who seemed to be right at home. No fair, stupid jerk. How dare he fit in so easily?
"Where are the rest?"
"Huh?" Nagumo blinked. What did she mean by that?
"You know...all your teammates. Where are they?"
He frowned. "Only the captains came. None of us really wanted to come, but father was going to make everyone go. We compromised." The frown turned to a scowl.
She hummed next to him. Why was she still here? Not that he minded...wait, what? "Why didn't you guys want to come? You know, besides the fact that fancy parties suck."
This time it was him who laughed. He turned to look at her; she looked back with expectant eyes. Should he tell her? It was so different for him to think like this. What if she laughed at him? No, no, this was Touko; she wouldn't laugh. Maybe it would be good to get it off his chest. That's what he told himself, anyway. He swallowed. "Well...you know...we don't...we really shouldn't be here in the first place. We...we don't deserve it. Not after all we've done."
"Nagumo...everyone does things they're not proud of. You just have to move past them."
He looked over at her in surprise. Her eyes were soft. "Uh...t-thanks..."
"No prob." She smiled at him. It was different from her usual grin that she sports when playing soccer. It wasn't bad.
An awkward silence enveloped them. Nagumo nervously went to drink out of his cup, but remembered it was empty. Curses. After a minute or two, he glanced over at Touko. Her eyes were pointed somewhere in the crowd. Confused, he followed them. He found Endou, talking excitedly with someone else, his arms flailing around wildly. He looked back at Touko and his heart tightened.
"You know..." she started, speaking more to herself than to Nagumo, eyes glued to Endou the whole time, "...if this were some crappy romance movie, this would be the part where a guy would come and tell me how beautiful I am all of the sudden, all dressed up." She frowned.
Nagumo snorted. "Don't be stupid." She turned to look at him in surprise. "All that stuff doesn't suit you at all. You're beautiful already, without all that junk."
He realized what he'd said too late. As he looked at Touko's shocked expression, his own face began to turn a shade strikingly similar to that of his hair. He messed up, he messed up, he messed up-
"Uh. Some...stuff...happened. I have to go." He turned around with inhuman speed and made a beeline in the other direction-but not before he saw her face turn bright red.
He...he actually said that. Crap, now what?! He probably creeped her out; he barely knew her! Yes, maybe her personality was interesting...and she was a skilled soccer player...and she was prettier than she realized...and the first time she talked to him way back when he was trying to trick Raimon, he almost clammed up-crap.
He never should have come to this stupid party.

"You're such an idiot."
Burn whipped around and glared at Gran in retaliation. "Shut up. I don't want to hear that from you."
The other Aliea captain chuckled, unfazed. "Why did you even try to worm your way in? There's no point."
"You heard what I said. Some of them might be worthy to join us. And 'worming my way in' could help Aliea more than you care to think," Burn snapped.
Gran still kept that annoying smile on his face. "Were you REALLY thinking of helping Aliea?"
Burn scoffed. "Of course! How dare you imply that I-"
"Or did you just want to see her for yourself?"
To his own horror, Burn could feel heat spreading across his face. He turned away from Gran, desperately hoping that his red face wasn't noticeable. Before he could even say anything to defend himself-
"Oo, you're blushing. I suppose my guess was right."
Crap.
"I-I have no idea what you're talking about. You're ridiculous." At least his voice didn't come out shaky.
Gran laughed. "In denial, I see."
"I'm not-! Uuuugh..." Winning an argument against Gran was impossible when he was like this. Instead of continuing to dig his own grave, Burn decided to shut up.
They walked on a bit more in silence before Gran spoke up again. "Well?"
"'Well?' Well what?"
"What did you think? Did Zaizen Touko live up to your expectations?"
Burn's face flushed again as he turned his gaze to the floor. He stood silently for a moment before mumbling, "...She was cool, I guess."
