To catch us up, here's song nine from the North American Hallowe'en Prevention Initiative (NAHPI), Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?
North American Hallowe'en Prevention Initiative consisted of just about every indie artist ever. Beck, Feist, Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more were represented as well as comedian David Cross and Elvira, because you can't have a Halloween single without Elvira. Do They Know It's Hallowe'en was a tongue in cheek stab at patronizing benefit songs like Do They Know It's Christmas. All profits from the song went to UNICEF. Also the music video is pretty nifty.

Now that it's officially October I can finally bust this out. I've spent every October listening to this since 2005. Maybe I still love it so much because it's one of those seasonal things like Girl Scout cookies. Or maybe it's awesome.
Day 31 of 31 days of Halloween songs and videos: North American Hallowe'en Prevention Initiative - Do they know it's Hallowe'en One of those odd charity singles put together by an all-star cast, and I rather enjoy it. Then again, it's an indie-rock project about Halloween, so what's not to love?

Remember this one from back in 2005? Best charity benefit song ever.
According to the official press release, the song “stems from a frustration with other benefit songs’ misguided, somewhat patronizing attitude, and Western-centric worldview.”
Bands featured: Arcade Fire, Beck, Buck 65, David Cross, Dessert, Devendra Banhart, Elvira, Feist, Gino Washington, Les Savy Fav, Islands, Malcolm McLaren, Nardwuar the Human Serviette, Peaches, Postal Service, Rilo Kiley, Greg Kursten, Roky Erickson, Sloan, Smoosh, Sonic Youth, Sparks, Subtitle, Sum 41, Tagaq, That Dog, Wolf Parade, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
