I was house photographer for Cinelounge Sunday for the inaugural 2021 Cinelounge Film Festival. I’ve shot for Christian on many occasions over the years in support of documenting indie films with coverage. Christian is a tireless advocate for indie movies and films of every kind. I went there with an idea of what was expected. What I didn’t know when I arrived that I’d see some of my favorite film makers folks. Tracie Laymon with “Ghosted” and then both Jennifer and Karen Kramer were there in support of their film NAKUSA. Tracie Laymon has gotten a lot of buzz with her Ghosted short and Jennifer has made her wonderful expressionist psychological dramatic short NAKUSA. The films were shown in the Cinelounge out doors next to the building making it especially COVID safe. I was very tired and had some osteoarthritis issues in my hip but I shot away capturing candids and step and repeat images of fans and film makers for the evening. Here are my shots from the Tastemaker Screenings at Arena Cinelounge of NAKUSA: A Jennifer Kramer Film, KNK Productions and Runaway Productions with Guest Speaker: Laura Sharpe - CEO/Board President- Artist's For Trauma. You may have seen the Facebook live posts I posted but if not here are some still from the NAKUSA Tastemaker event I shot tonight. My return to shooting red carpets after over a year of all of us being isolated. NAKUSA was a brilliant short Jennifer Kramer starred in that proved evocative and transformative revolving around the theme of trams. In this set you see director Linda Palmer-Cardone, Laura Sharpe and Sound of Metal Academy Awards nominee Paul Raci, Jennifer Kramer and Kat Kramer. I don't think we've ever introduced this assfuck. This is what we call Nakusa; its intrusive thoughts. It doesnt have its own room or anything, it just fucking flies around and says the stupidest shit when we least want to hear it. And like, it's not even funny most of the time. A light chuckle left her lips as she faced the stranger that had approached her at the bookstore, places Areum found sacred and yet, the bookstore she visited regularly had been shut down recently for lack of costumers. Now, she had found a new one and it seemed like new costumers didn’t come easily as well, considering the words leaving the stranger’s lips. “That’s the problem with bookstores or libraries... Not many people know their worth. A shame, really.” She replied shortly, a smile on her lips before she turned her attention to the books displayed on the shelves, the many possibilities for an afternoon spent reading at home, relaxing after a long week.
