When I lived in Chicago as a kid, I'd visit the Shedd Aquarium as often as my weary parents would take me. It was there I saw many species for the first time, including beluga whales. Just more fuel on the fire of who and what I wanted to be when I grew up. (I never did "grow up" actually.) I guess I never put it together, but during the years I was going to Shedd, there was a familiar face in the viewing window the whole time. Naluark very well may have been the first beluga I ever saw, and now I get to take care of him. It's absolutely crazy how our paths crossed again, both of us with several moves under out belts. I can't explain to him how much he and his Shedd buddies influenced my future path, but I'm grateful.
