Newborn harp seal pups are covered in beautiful white fur which helps camouflage them on the ice and snow. They are what comes to mind when someone says, "baby seal". Wiley is a grown up harp seal, and we are lucky to have him around. He strayed way farther south than his normal Arctic range as a juvenile and washed up in New England. While he was resting on the beach, he was observed being attacked by a coyote, hence his name. He was rehabilitated in Maine, but the government deemed him non-releaseable. It was determined that SeaWorld Orlando would be a suitable permanent home for him, and he has lived with his harbor seal companions as well as beluga whales at the Wild Arctic exhibit ever since. He is one of the only harp seals in human care and he enriches our lives every single day. #wiley #harpseal #rescue #wildarctic #pinniped #zookeeperlife (at SeaWorld Orlando)
