was just talking names with my family, my mother thinks my name is gender-neutral, which, no??? like in what world, i chose my name based after a mythology/history personage, who is masc.

Also my (english)name is out of theme... my siblings names are all themed... 😔, i am not in theme... the sorrows(i really like my name, but also my dead-name was also out of theme, so its fine). BUT! My non-english name is in theme with every one elses. but also, to give some examples of our non-english names, purity, ray of light, angel, etc. which clearly THERE IS A THEME GOING ON, but also my parents firmly deny any themes. tho they will acknowledge the english name theme. ALSO FUN FACT I HAVE FOUR WHOLE WORDS IN MY LEGAL STUFF.

Legal name, middle name, non-english name, last name.

LOOK HOW LONG THAT IS?? its long for me ok... 😭 also when i change my legal stuff, imma keep it that long, i like my non-english name, and yes i am being very vauge with what language it is.

and when we were talking about names, the reason we all have non-english names, was so we would always have some of our heratige, which i think is good sentament... but now if only they would teach us some of that heratige....

Just gonna say this, I have never met someone of the male variety named Alex that is actually a nice person.

So if your name is Alex and you are male, fuck you🖕

I can never, for the love of chaos, say Byakuya's name. I always pronounce it Bakura and then I have to remind myself "no, Bakura is yugioh not danganpronpa" and so I keep trying to say his name until eventually I give up and call him "rich boy" or Togami.

I don't know why I struggle so much but I do😭

i love the concept of collecting names/nicknames in your lifetime. they all have different meanings and originated from different places but they’re all interchangeable and they sit at the same level. my username when i was 11 and my birth name are equally treasured by me and they are both core parts of my identity. i don’t prefer any particular name, i actually prefer that people use all my names or whatever assortment they associate the most with me.

they’re all part of me and they all mean the same thing! that stuff is so cool to me.

I’ve been thinking a lot and that usually means I don’t have anyone to talk to about this stuff and that usually means I’m about to personal info dump on tumblr lmao here we go

So recently I’ve decided to start going by the name Shane instead of my old one and this coming semester I’m going to start just going by that that like I’m going to email profs and everything but being home is hard because it’s full of people who have only known me as the old name and I just don’t feel like putting myself through the process of telling them I don’t go by that name anymore and it’s like whatever to me at this point my friends call me Shane, my girlfriend calls me Shane, and when I go places and they ask for a name I give them Shane and when I finally move out of this town or get a new job whichever comes first I’m going to introduce myself as Shane

Then I think about like legal documents but you know what FUCK that plenty of fucking people go by different names then what is their legal name so that will be the name that I signature and the name that goes on legal docs but when people speak to me they are going to use my name, Shane,

So yeah it’s just this awkward place where a lot of people still call me my old name but a good amount of people use my name and my mom knows that people at college call me it as a “nickname” but whatever that’s good enough for me for now

i can’t help this feeling of unease,, i like my new name but something about having to tell everyone i know that its different scares me. of course my college friends who have known me for the shortest amount of time have been very, very cool about it- but the thought of telling the adults in my life who have known me for my entire life as another name is terrifying. i want to own who i am but im still figuring it out and i feel like their world is so binary, black and white, and i don’t fit into that anymore and i don’t want to lose these people in my life. i don’t even know how i would tell my family.
