I wanted to share something I learned today - that made my day.

Watching The Meg 2 with my mom (meh movie that I’ve already seen but was mostly for background noise cuz I’m sick and festering on the couch) and this part comes up where SPOILERS three (*gasp* 😜) megladons come swimming up and all sarcastic I’m like:

“Oh no. Here come a school of megs… Wait. Pod? 🤔 Ok. Now I need to know.”

So I whip out the ‘ol Google to find out what a group of sharks is called.

Gave me shivers. Straight up my spine! SO COOL! Had to share!

we didn’t always have a name for it, dagger, the concept of jaggedness, that something could be jagged and not cloud-edged, not dagger, probably a gesture at first, a grunt, and then just as a proto-dictionary arrived probably the word for dependable, until seeds and sky and the blurred shut-eye of stars in their designated stories emerged with other antonyms like pouch and seeds in a palm, and that’s when every rock got its own name, and the friction between unlike things became delicious, and we had the field and a list of words as well as the wound, and hard rain clouds and soft pillowy clouds, several options for where a dagger could fall and rest
