Nami headcanons because I can

Nami is definitely the kind of girl to map out every restaurant/store that gives you free stuff on your birthday. Each year is a miniature heist of hitting as many as possible.

You know she has all of the straw hats registered for rewards accounts so she can claim theirs too. Zoro doesn’t know what a beauty insider is, or how he became one.

Nami would also be the couponing queen. Somehow the grocery store ends up owing her money by the end of it all. She’s never once spent money on gifts for the other straw hats this way. She got Franky a soda stream for his birthday and a subscription service for monthly refills of the CO2 and syrups.

You best believe this girl has the executive Costco membership. She’s memorized what each of different sales numbers mean. How else do you think they have managed to feed Luffy?

She’s insulted when someone suggests using GPS around her. She has the route memorized, and will get you there sooner even with the crew taking several breaks for snacks and the bathroom. I feel like she would also know where all the speeding cameras are, and where cops tend to catch people speeding.

Sunscreen queen right here. She got a reminder set to reapply and a variety of different types on her at all times. Would make sure Robin and Chopper reapply. She given up on the rest of the crew though. In Brooks words “I don’t have to worry about a sunburn, you know, since I have no skin.” Sanji has sunscreen on his hands and legs nothing else. Luffy thinks SPF stands for “Super Performance Food”. Zoro says he’s trained himself not to burn. Franky is mostly metal at this point. And Jinbe has some luxury fishman sunscreen he refuses to share.

Orange scented everything. If there’s a choice she always going with the citrus scent. Always smells good. Like a light orange and vanilla smell.

Knows her fashion and is on top of sales/styles. Basically Elle Woods when she calls out that saleswoman. Good luck trying to make this girl pay full price. Would also be super into thrifting. I feel like she would would have a depop or Etsy where she resells vintage pieces she finds.

Cat person through and through. This cat would eat better than most people. She would have one of those robotic litter boxes for it. Has one of those water fountains for it and an impressive cat tree. It would be on sight between this cat and Zoro though. Claims it’s trying to take his other eye.

Anyways I just really love Nami and want her to live her best live.

Teacher Nami

I feel like Nami would teach elementary science. And if not, that high school and the class would either be geography, environmental science, or any weather/climate classes.

Her students would absolutely adore her, and the parents probably would too, so I feel like she would regularly win teacher of the year or best teacher.

Her room would definitely be cute and cozy asf. She would never have the overhead lights on unless absolutely necessary. She would also have hand-drawn maps all over the walls.

Her door stays decorated for the season or holiday, and she always lets her students help.

This is so cliché, but instead of her students bringing her apples, they bring her different types of oranges.

Her outfits would be so fucking cute, and it would probably give art teacher (idk if y’all have seen Heymissteacher on tiktok but that’s how I think she’d dress).

Probably has a classroom pet named Clementine or Tangerine.

Robin would be highly regarded in academia.

She would be the department chair of history, a top researcher, and the head of the Journal of Historical Preservation at her university.

I think she would pick up classes when time allows, but she mostly travels a lot to present/ be a guest speaker for conferences. She would probably also be invited to other universities to speak to classes in her field.

She has tons and tons of papers and studies on various historical topics (we love a multidisciplinary girlie).

She definitely has a couple of books under her belt, too.

She mainly focuses on historical preservation.

Robin always serves absolute cunt, handsdown, no questions asked. She loves a good pantsuit, especially a purple or pink one.

She’s always humble, but she gon make sure you get it right, it’s Dr. Nico. (GET IT RIGHT, DON’T FUCKING PLAY WITH HER)

shopping with your best friend, Nami, is normally fun and carefree. However, this trip is different. She is in the zone and had one goal: presents.

“Why are we shopping now?”

“Because I finally found the gift list!”

shopping with your best friend, Nami, is fun…sometimes. You reluctantly let her drag you around town, boutiques, vendors…anywhere and everywhere looking for perfect gifts for the crew.

“Nami, I don’t think I hold anymore bags…”

“Nonsense! You’re strong. I think you can handle a couple more…”

shopping with your best friend, Nami, comes with a ten minute snack break to refuel on shopping energy and calories.

But then…

After you were shopping with your best friend, Nami, you walked past some mistletoe hanging lazily over the doorframe.

“So. Mistletoe. Up there.”

“It’s just a kiss.”

Usopp was the last crew member on the gift list.

“Um, Nami, do you think—”

“He’s the last one! And I’m sure I know what he wants.” Nami cut in, even though the gift list clearly said he wanted five pairs of socks. “He doesn’t need socks.”

“He does.” You muttered, straining your arms to keep up with carrying the bags filled with presents.

“Let’s go here…” she pointed out, stuffing the list in her pocket. Nami grabbed your hand and dragged you to a leather shop, where you were welcomed by the smell of polish. Inside, you two immediately noticed the shelves showing off shoes, vests, and other impossibly fancy leather goods.

After the bell rang and you two stood at the front of the store, the owner at the counter clapped his hands happily.

“Would you look at that? Two lovely ladies under mistletoe!”

You and Nami exchanged confused looks and looked up. Indeed both of saw it dangling next to the bell. The shopping exhaustion and excitement between you two melted when you met eyes and smiled.

Blush bloomed on Nami’s cheeks while you shyly looked away.

“So. Mistletoe. Up there.” She whispered, looking at you with her hands behind her back.

You nodded as your heart beat faster. “Yes. And…it’s just a kiss.”

“Tradition!” Nami quickly added, “by tradition we have to kiss!”

“Only if you want to.” The owner smiled.

Slowly, you set the bags down, careful that they remained straight up so none of the presents fell. Nami stepped closer and slid one hand into yours while the other rested lightly on your cheek.

“Happy Holidays.” She whispered, leaning in.

You nodded. “Happy Holidays, Nami.”

Then you two shared a kiss under the mistletoe, eyes closed and unexpectedly happy that you didn’t buy Usopp socks.

from my perspective (MINE. MINE, DON'T HATE ME IF YOU SHIP) when I write Nami: -Usopp is her manga best friend, and the one she can relate to the most because they are both non-monster-fighters -Sanji is always going to be the one she has the deepest 'honest' relationship with, and without needing to be depressed to open up, because I'll always write her as a little reluctant to share her emotions but with Sanji her walls come down more easily due to his particular... attitude with her. And you all know he's my OTP for her (designated future boyfriend, he has no choice if he's an NPC in the thread) though I do feel she won't be able to jump into such a big change of status easily (good luck to Sanji, even if they share some romantic moment she may take it all back) -Zoro in the live action version can also be shipped with her but otherwise is another type of bestie, the one who calls you out, -and Luffy is special in another way, he's FAMILY, which is why I cannot ship them together even though I adore their interactions. Like I get the shipping, but I cannot. Yet my threads with Luffy are always super entertaining because he brings out the best of yell-y nami. and those are the people who were there pre-arlong, during the arlong arc and after, so they are extra special. -Chopper is The Baby. Vivi is her first female bestie outside of her sister and Nami is extremely protective of her. Nico Robin is the only Certified Adult and as such I don't have a clear view of their relationship yet. Not with my Nami taking so much from Live Action Nami, at least.

twinsy-bit sleep-deprived so I'm not here yet, and this is not relevant to anyone but me, but while I think of MY Nami as Sanji-romantic (with a dash of opla-Zoro-romantic, potentially) in the sense that I'm solely interested in writing that ship, I generally like to think of her as in the aro-ace spectrum, specifically very demi-aro and a bit demi-ace. Never had a crush, needs a strong emotional bond to develop romantic feelings, can notice when people are aesthetically pleasing, but is not se.xually attracted on the spot; she is sensually attracted way more easily (kisses, hugs, cuddles), and has s.exual experience purely because she wanted to feel something good every now and then while living in hell (fully consensual, did cheer her up). Has never dated. A relationship isn't a goal/priority/something she envisions when she thinks of a perfect life, but if it happens she'll welcome it.

(as opposed to Janey who is extremely repulsed but would accept a queerplatonic relationship that is not at all physical, and Terra who needs strong bonds to feel attraction but 100% *wants* a relationship, physical and emotional. Nami happens to be in between.)

also my Nami will:

-flirt with Sanji as a 100% inside joke between them (may be just inside her head) because he flirted first and she thinks it's part of their dynamic, and also funny to see his reaction, they'd have the Soft Relationship by default because Sanji ain't gonna yell at her and she's not going to be mean to him back (in return, he gets to hear her secrets) -flirt with Zoro, also 100% just to tease him, mostly to annoy him and/or with the same sentiment of her giving him fines to pay for whatever he asks her, because they butt heads, he will disagree with her and that means she's more openly leaning into the 'friendly fighting friends' dynamic (in return, when she's nice it feels more earned) -NOT flirt with Luffy as a joke ever, he's a little brother to her and she just wants to call him an idiot and semi-yell at him while thinking he's one of the best people in the universe (he gets her undying loyalty and love) -not flirt with Usopp simply because he's not someone she wants to annoy nor someone who flirted with her, she settles for scaring him with enormous requests of money (he's the one who doesn't have super powers, just like her, so he gets her full support and the 'we get each other' glances) -... not flirt with Chopper, does it need saying? He's a cutie though -I need to see her reacting to Vivi, Nico Robin and Franky in the live action to determine how she'd be with them in general, but as horrible as it is I think she's slightly closer to the OG group because they were there for Arlong. On the other hand, Vivi and Nico Robin are the only female friends she's got as an adult and she wants that. She may also realize with horror that her 'I'm in a crew of idiots' routine doesn't work as much with them if, from their pov, she's just as crazy. I do not have a clear view of her relationship with Franky though.
