I want you to wake up
This is a letter for Indians.
Apart from all the wonderful thoughts I've been pounding to write about, this one seems to be waiting too long, and had to go first.
Elections. yes, it is heartbreaking looking at how people form decisions.
Mostly these are youngsters, who are facing the heat for the first time, thanks to social media being a big agent this time. Also sadly there are some middle aged indians who grew older believing everyone was a liar or misfit to be voted for. All these people I just described are bluntly against someone like Narendra Modi. Couple of reasons:
Reason1: First time they've ever heard about Narendra Modi was when campaigning for elections 2014 started, or he ever came into news was because he was being probed for Gujarat Riots. That is all they know about him, or choose to close their eyes to anything else he has done in his life.
Why its not a reason enough? Because, he was never proven guilty for having a hand in any of it. Instead, as a CM of Gujarat, he has the best record till date for taking control and bringing things to normal after a riot. And I'm proud to say he did make sure to get any man behind devising the riot, and get them punished in the worst way, making sure no one ever dares to do such a thing in Gujarat again. Being in India you know the frequency of riots right? how many CMs you know have been able to achieve anything close to that? Now tell me what is your problem with his credibility. He may have harsh ways, but only for the right thing, why is it wrong for you?
Reason 2: They think he is anti-secular i.e. anti-muslim. They've got bits and pieces of information from not so credible internet, and they believe it. And then accuse Modi supporters to have been biased because of media.
Why its not a reason enough? Because, you can't declare him anti-secular, you have no proof. Not even once he has said anything to offend a Muslim. Yes, he has a problem with the Islamist terrorists and jehadis, but lets face it, haven't we all had enough from them? isn't it high time we publicaly accept hatred for terrorists or so called jehadis? We all know these people don't support any particular religion, they just use the name. If he was anti-muslim, there will not be so many Muslims living peacefully in Gujarat. Yes, he passed a law against illegal conversion of religion in his State, but then anything illegal has to be stopped. You can still do it the legal way (if there is any such thing, though I personally dont believe in it). Btw, the illegal way of converting still goes on in the entire country, as you may want to close your eyes to it, it isn't a simple matter of faith as you may assume. People are paid off, and due to lack of free funds from Govt.they often choose to convert their faiths. So here we are. In any case, even if you are a Hindu, I'm sure you feel apologetic already for talking about faiths, thats how we've always been, sorry for being a Hindu. But we always admire anyone who praises his other faith, except a Hindu, then we call him anti-secular.
Reason 3: They think Arvind Kejriwal and his party are truly the saviours. As they believe corruption is the biggest issue of this country, power to a common man will actually solve every issue, a common man knows best how to run the country.
Why its not a reason enough? Because, a common man is really not that informed to run a whole country like India. I completely appreciate AAP efforts to give us a choice apart from regular parties that we've seen for decades. But the big turn off was resigning in 49 days, and then instead of ever uttering anything against Congress or Sonia Gandhi, they solely attacked Modi. Why? why couldn't they attack both major parties equally. AK appeared desperate to put down Modi by visiting Gujarat in a private jet. They continue to bad-mouth BJP, and not say anything against Congress. And btw, do you understand this - In Delhi, AAP got 28 seats, BJP got 32 seats, none of these were enough to form a Govt. so the 8 seats won by Congress had to be merged with either of them to form the Govt. No way Congress could have helped BJP, and so it supported AAP. Get you facts right before you go blabber about BJP running away from governance in Delhi. In short AAP just lost its credibility by becoming humble towards Congress' agenda of putting down Modi.
And Corruption is not the biggest problem of this country, it is credibility of the Govt. whether they are credible enough to take important policy decisions, whether they make our farmers' lives easier or make us buy imports, whether they understand the sensitivity of Kashmir border, whether they are capable of shooing away China in its attempts to create a Red-corridor from Nepal to Andra Pradesh to facilitate illegal poaching of Tigers from rich forests in that corridor. These are issues, you think money is the only problem? It is for a common man, but a country has many more things to tackle to save its ground.
Most of you still support AAP out of an ego-problem. It hurts for you support someone with all your heart for the first time, and they are not doing enough. But then you just want to fight the regular options to portray your so-cool option. Is AAP really capable of governing and changing the entire system in 5 years? dont you think they couldve done something in Delhi for starters, why did they leave? It will take years for them to truly understand how the country works, another 50 years? we have that much time to give?
Reason 4: They believe Congress Ads, in the sense they actually think Congress means all they have been blabbering through media. That they support farmers, or they provide jobs, or they work closely with small towns, villages in teams. Mostly their Ads show Muslim protagonists only, but no one points that out.
Why its not a reason enough? Because, you never hear them speak to India directly often, the PM is the worst example we've ever had, we all know he has no opinion of his own. All the scams have been happening for years, and hope you know Sonia Gandhi has been stashing away lots n lots of money from here in her home town(s). They have a full fledged antiques business in Italy, or maybe somewhere in Europe. Slowly all scams included other ministers as everyone wants a share. Congress never gets time to govern or design policies, they just do it under pressure, like a last minute deal, whichever gets them more returns. Returns for them, not the country.
It is not true that all reigning parties are liars and imposters. Would you believe somebody like Lalu Prasad Yadav had also once joined Politics with the same principles flaunted by Kejriwal, with Jay Prakash Narayan - when Janata Dal was formed. What happened? did he change the country or changed himself, and is now behind one of biggest scams of our times. How are you sure Kejriwal will not change - well he changed direction of his allegations pointing only towards BJP, why not Congress? On the other hand Narendra Modi has a track record of being a patriot, working for the country. If you remember Atal Bihari Vajpayee's reign of 5 years, BJP did do good for this country then, only they couldn't put up a strong candidate till now. We seriously need to get rid of the Italians.
Oh, and btw, I'm sure you all know of Rahul Gandhi's qualities, before you admire Priyanka, do think about how far they've remained from common people through years of Congress Govt., plus she is an alcoholic to start with.
