So my sister and I are slowly going through all the Nancy Drew games together (despite being the correct age of the original target audience we just never had the games growing up).

We’ve had maybe a 75 percent success rate on sussing out the culprit but I don’t know how much pride I can take in that because we somehow were blindsided in SCK (we forgot they were an option) and also in DAN. And supposedly SCK is considered very obvious (in hindsight it is)

I never really know which games the culprit is more of a shock universally and which ones aren’t.

Anyway we just finished SEA and I’m kind of proud that our gut was right but who knows if it’s commonly guessed or not.

Also we’re not going in order, just kinda going based on vibes and what we’re feeling. I think next we are gonna do SPY or VEN

I wrote a list but couldn't choose. So, here's that instead.

21. Francy, Nedcy, or neither?

Okay, so this question pushed me right down the rabbit hole.

First of all, I couldn't figure why Joe was left out of this equation. Like, why Frank and not his brother? I thought I found my answer through his age (Turns out he's like... 16? I'll be honest, I thought everyone was perpetually ~19) or why Frank was the choice over ships that felt more obvious to me, like George x Nancy (Georgy? Drayne?) or Bess x Nancy (Bessy? Darvin?)

But, after some investigating (because, hell, what else have these games taught me to do?) I learned that there's like... palpable romantic conflict between Ned, Nancy and Frank in MID? And this has been present all the way back in DED?

I haven't played MID and... honestly, haven't had any plans to. So I was Completely Unaware of all this. And, frankly (ha.), learning that there is or could be romantic conflict makes me even less likely to play it. One of the things I really love about the series is that Nancy's romantic relationship, though present, takes a backseat. (But, I'm aromantic. So this take should not be surprising from me).

ANYWAY I'm a Nedcy truther becuase it's the easiest choice, but with the stipulation of my own personal headcanon that Ned is bi and did, for a short time, date Henry Bolet in college, leading to their eventually distant but warm friendship. Golden retriever x Goth to Golden Retriever x Insane pipeline.

decades have passed since nancy (amy adams) first visited blackmoor manor. after a divorce and the passing of her father, nancy finds herself in london accompanying maya nguyen to brady armstrong’s metamorphosis from cable tv to theatre.

nancy is all too happy to duck out of the play and take a call from hugh penvellyn, who is desperate to uncover the whereabouts of an adult jane (mia washikowska) and five other missing girls - one being mei parry, who travelled to london to meet an online friend with a passion for game design.

nancy feels just as washed up as brady armstrong. she’s been a nickerson for years now - she wouldn’t know nancy drew if that long-lost legend shook her by the shoulders and screamed.

perhaps the halls of blackmoor can guide her back to herself, whoever that might be.

if frank hardy wants to help light the path down those gloomy, twisted moors, who is she to stop him and joe? but the addition of deirdre, the married ghost hunting duo jessalyn thorton and henry bolet, plus dylan carter, who is now giving spook-ridden tours of blackmoor? well, let’s just say that rediscovering nancy drew might be tricker than expected.
