Vertically composed postcard from the Teal-23 Actuality, a splinter reality in which Martian Van Buren (pictured above) strategically murdered Abraham Lincoln’s mother Nancy in her infancy, thereby preventing the Illinois Rail Splitter from ever existing.

Leveraging Lincoln’s unused karma, Van Buren went on to become the 16th president himself, in a strategy known as the Skunk River Redundancy (coincidentally, the name of an under appreciated 1972 Robert Ludlum spy thriller).

FUN FACT: Serving as vice president under Van Buren was none other than Chestburster A. Arthur, the highly despised Rigelian heart worm and RINO Republican - this being a subsidiary reality in which RINO stood for Regulated & Inventoried Necrotic Organism.

Nancy Hanks was born in Virginia (now West Virginia) on February 5, 1784. Her mother Lucy was not married and eventually moved to Kentucky with her sister and young daughter. Nancy worked as a seamstress until she married Thomas Lincoln in 1806. A year later, she gave birth to a daughter, Sarah, and in 1809, to a son, Abraham. The Lincolns' third child, Thomas, died in infancy in 1812. Nancy was said to be a sober, pious woman; and a loving mother who often read to her children from the Bible and taught them to read and write. Two years after the family moved to Indiana, however, Nancy fell ill with "milk sickness" while caring for a sick neighbor. She died on October 5, 1818, aged 34. Her son Abraham, only nine, remembered helping to build his mother's coffin many years later. Her death affected him deeply for the rest of his life.
